We all want steak........and deserve such coaching aspirations.
However, JD just picked up his to-go bag at McDonalds.
No T-Bone or even Top Laimbeer here.......

Inside are Zeljko Obradovic and Nate McMuffin.

Doesn't sound like a Happy Meal to me.............

There are no 'impressive' coaches available and certainly none that will come here to the most insecure coaching gig in the NBA.

If I am the Pistons I am waiting for the playoffs to end as there may be a couple of coaches that come available.

Two names in particular intrigue me:

Lionel Hollins (teams rank at the top of the NBA in defense year after year in Memphis)

Scott Brooks (leads the Thunder to the best record in the West)

There were reports this season that Lionel wasn't happy with the Rudy trade and the new owners in Memphis don't see eye to eye with him as he was hired by the previous ownership.
He certainly knows how to teach defense and he also has experience with a big front line.
You want defense I give you Lionel Hollins.

Brooks on the other hand is under pressure to win it all now. He has a championship squad and if he doesn't win this year I fully expect him to be shown the door for a coach with championship level experience.
    Can you say Phil Jackson!!
Brooks has shown an ability to develop youth, just look at Durant, Westbrook, Harden and Ibaka. Sure you can claim they are all stars and anyone could have led them to success but if we blame a coach for failures, surely we can praise a coach for success.

Personally I would prefer either of these coaches because they are both leading successful teams in the current NBA.

Phil will no longer coach. He is looking for a GM role and a lot of control. The only way out for Gores (short of another 3-5 years in finding Kashmir) is to spend his way out. He may have finally realized this.

Thanks buddy! Glad to be here...finally!

So Nate is the front runner I see. I hope that Joe shows some patience and waits there is no reason to pull the trigger until everything has shaken loose.

I always liked McMillan when he was in Portland and Seattle. They could do worse it seems. Wasn't he kind of forced out in Portland over some power struggle/rift?

If the Pistons are going the foreign route for a coach then I'd rather they take Takis Zevic, Giannis' coach.

Hollins is definitely interesting. He might walk if Memphis gets blown by in the first round.

I'm not really interested in Brooks. He did do very well with Durant/Harden/Wbrook. I don't rate Ibaka, at all. He seems very slow to implement his system, which showed up this year. Before that, the Thunder were an Iso or transition team. That's it. Spoelstra had the same problem with the superstar laden team. Big usage rates don't mesh well. Also, Perkins and Ibaka are almost irrelevant on offense (although I do like their defense when Ibaka actually has feet on the ground), where our offense should be grounded in our big men.

The latter is Part II of the old Sloan method of coaching and he would not last any longer than Lam.

I'm always willing to change my tune if I'm proven wrong. I hated the Rip Hamilton trade when it happened because Stackhouse had been performing great for us. But, it worked out. If hiring one of 'the other guys' turns out to be a success, I will be the 1st to say I was wrong.

Admission: I still don't like the Mark Aguirre trade....LOL

Wrong or right doesn't matter. If you got a good arguement with good logic, that's all the really counts.

LOL...the Pistons have become that company with the manager that won't promote the guy who's awesome because he might take the manager's job one day...

Joe will just keep hiring people who could never potentially have more success than him...

The only difference between Lindsey Hunter and Michael Curry is the fact that Mike Curry is infinately more qualified to coach the Pistons. Hunter would make Lawrence Frank look like John Wooden.

    JUST (expletive) HIRE BILL LAIMBEER!!!
