I only have one criteria - find someone who does not suck. Not getting fooled by one good interview will be a step in the right direction. I am leaning toward Shaw or McMillan.

I think Mike Budenholzer makes more sense than any of the other re-treads (Nate, PJ) or assistants (Shaw, Sampson).

Budenholzer studies at the school of Gregg Popovich and the Spurs. That is a team for the Pistons to emulate. All the Spurs do is bring in under-the-radar free agents and turn them into championships. The Pistons will never be able to do it the Miami or L.A. way of bringing in stud free agents. We are a small market free agent destination. We need to make hay with the scraps. Who better to help with this than the top assistant from the team that we should model ourselves after.

Granted, Monroe isn't Duncan, BK isn't Tony Parker, and Singler sure as hell isn't Manu. But if we're waiting around to hit LeBron free agent gold, we're crazy.

Maybe Popovich won't want to be in SA anymore without his top assistant and he'll quit so the Pistons can hire him?

The thing we should emulate if we want to be successful like SA is drafting players like Duncan, Parker and Manu. That team has been just as star-spangled as the Lakers and the Heat teams that won anything.

I'm lukewarm on Buldozhouser. Career assistant coaches scare me. Sharing a cubicle with a genius UNIX programmer doesn't make you one.

Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau was assistant with six different teams from 1989 until he got the head coaching position with the Bulls in 2010. He is a defensive specialist that some say was responsible for the Celtics winning it all in the 2008 as they held Kobe in check. His Bulls teams have been doing well despite key injuries with the superstar missing a couple of others battling on one leg. If all else fells...I might take another look at him.

I figure that Phil Jackson will be advising 2 more days.......and then he'll disappear.

Maybe Joe is thinking he can hurry up and hire someone he likes before Phil gets to town...LOL

Isiah Thomas watches the news coming out of the Pistons’ camp with great interest.

A color analyst for NBATV, Thomas still would like to be a part of the Pistons’ organization. If owner Tom Gores invited him to interview for the vacant head coaching job, the Hall of Famer would gladly accept.

“I love the Pistons, and I have and will always help them anyway I can,” Thomas said last week.

I doubt anyone would mess up Isaiah's desk.

Does anyone know if Bickerstaff is willing to use a computer to help the team compete? I read the article and it wasn't mentioned.

If he is willing then it's a toss up between he and Kuester for me.

Would we be accused of tanking if we went coachless?

Bickerstaff has learned the trait of tanking.

I don't even care if Zeke was asked about coaching. I just would like to see this foolishness of the franchise showing the door to anyone who's had success here who isn't named Joe Dumars. If there's one thing I see in her Portland that trumps DET is the way they respect and maintain ties with their team history. I wish we would start doing the same.

It just seems mind boggling that Hunter would get an interview and Laimbeer doesn't??? Joe must really been ticked off by something Bill said or did to him back in the day....
