I know its only exhibition and early exhibition but off of two games and when you look at the talent it could be that the Pistons will have a serious 2nd unit this year.

There are non questions and questions

    1. Dyess is not a question
    2. Murray is not a question
    3. Hunter is a question of age and can his body hold up over a full schedule rememebering that last year he only played about 1/3 of the year.
    4. Questions - JMax and CD - Are they ready to step up and contribute in a meaningful way??

I think that if the unit stays healthy that this could turn out to be a 2nd unit that will contribute in a meaningful way this year and therefore worthy of a nickname. I offer no suggestions at this time but would love to hear what others have to say.

Good point. The 2004 bench did not have one so I don't know. I think Jon Barry created that last kick on his own so I guess its up to the players.

I vote for "the Benchwarmers" or "Splinters".

Or maybe "The Dream Team", because if they really believe Flip when he says he'll play them, they're dreaming.

    ? and the Mysterians

Flip Murray is the question mark and everyone else is the Mysterians. Dice of course is not part of the bench, but the 6th starter.

Yeah, as a best case scenario. On a bad night, they'd be the "DNP's"

Bench: First of all, just who will be the bench. I say its going to be 6 guys, Maxiell, Amir Johnson, Dyess, Murray, Delfino, and Blalock. Let me see. A lock, for lock down D. Max, for the max of course. Fino, for fine play. Roll the Dyess. Nah. Antonio, setting the tone. Thats it. A mir, the space station. Yeah, high up there. Ok, lets see what we have. Oh, and you are going to Flip for this unit no doubt. Hmm, M, M, T, F, L, F. The first initials of the first names are J, A, A, F, C, W. Last names, M, J, M, M, B, D. Just not a whole lot of vowels to work with at all. Awe forget it. Jammer Time. Jam it in, and then jam there offense. Yeah, Jammer Time should work. Gee, I now see just how original that is. Not. Flipfinlocktonmaxmir,Flircarlocmaxton. Enough for tonight.

Lets not get too ahead of outselfs here.

Flip has said the main bench will be Dyess, Murry, Delfino, Hunter and Davis. But Maxiel is really making a good case for some serious PT so Flip is going to have to find a way to give it to him if he continues at this pace.

Love Amir but this is probably not going to be his year. He has said his goal is to play at least 100 mins so he is not getting disgruntled anytime soon.

We will see. If Johnson desrves some PT then Flip is going to have to work him in somehow.

I know this is more your wish than reality, but Amir and Blalock are NBDL material this season. Your boy Hunter is going to see some PT this year, too.

More work. Doubters aside, hey, I am going to have a bit of faith in Flip that he will play the right guys this year. At least until he proves me wrong. So I am sticking with the bench ending up as Blalock, Murray, Delfino, Amir, JMAX, and Dyess.

Flircarlocmaxton. Not very catchy. Carlockflirtonmax. Not getting anywhere really. Lets go back to those first initials. JAW leaves the A, F, and C. Use the C as an S sound and you got Jawc. How about the first two letters. JA, AM, AN, CA, FL, WI. Can jam. Can Fly, will jam. Ok, so jam has ja from Jason, and Am for Amir. Can covers Carlos and Antonio. The word flock covers Flip and Blalock. Here is Blalocks nick: Lock. As in lockdown defense.

Can Fly. Will Jam. Can Lock. "The flying logjam that can." That should work. An oxymoron, to be funny. Flying logjam. Logjam. What does that mean. If you have a log jam at a position, it means you have more good players than you can play. Six guys, just five slots. They can. Simple statement. They can defend. They can score. They can post up. They can block. And they can run a halfcourt offense. They can drive in. They can shoot the outside shot. They can set picks-did you see JMAX set those picks? Wow.--Oh, and logjamming their offense.

Johnson is a very exciting prospect but the scheptic in me is waiting for the Pistons to blow it somehow. You know not play him and signing some vet next summer instead of playing Amir or not matching some offer or something.

    We will see.

    Maxiel better play though.

If the bench actually plays and does something special this year, then perhaps they need a nickname. Is 2003 (Alternatorz) the last time the bench had a nickname?

    I'm really leaning towards, "Flircarlocmaxton"
