I'll be at work on Thursday and will have to DVR the Generals game it and watch it when I get home. I'd like to ask everyone to refrain from commenting on the game here in the forum until later on in the evening. I hate watching a game when I already know the outcome (...even though I already know the outcome). ...Thanks in advance.
Living on DVR delay can be very stressful. You think that you cover all your bases, but the outcome can get revealed in a variety of ways.
Yes, this has happened to me dozens of times (tv sports ticker, internet headline, email, text, random person blurting "the Lions blew it again", etc.).
My wife once extorted a Coach purse out of me by threatening to reveal the outcome of a Piston playoff game in '05.
Smart woman. After a while, I started to pick up subtle changes in other people's demeanors as they tried to conceal outcomes from me. Knowing that they knew the outcome was usually enough to ruin the surprise because of my belief that I could read their body language. Now that the Pistons stink, I don't really have the problem anymore because nobody outside of this forum really cares enough to find out. But during the big '04 to '08 run, paranoia crept in a bit. Also, I think that TV has become a little more DVR friendly as far as score ribbons streaming at the bottom of network sporting events. They seem to leave that to ESPN now. Can't prove it, but that's what it seems like to me.
I have not recorded any Pistons games this year which is a drastic switch for me. I'm glad I'm missing the game so I won't have to watch Flip Frank's foolishness. I too used to freak if someone revealed the score to me, but I invited it by wearing Pistons gear while I worked out which is where I usually was when the game was on.
I am flying over from the Netherlands to watch my 1st Detroit (and NBA) match live in an Arena, so the Pistons better put some eefert into the game !!!
Since this is a home game for us, it is essentially lost revenue. I wonder if the league is reimbursing the Pistons in any way.
