Inspired by a conversation started in the PF.com chat, this is a thread to discuss potential new nicknames for Piston players. Two great examples of the need for change are Greg "Moose" Monroe and Charlie "BoT" Villanueva. I initially threw my hat in the ring suggesting that Greg's nickname be changed to reflect nobility; perhaps "Owl", "Horse", or even a constellation. However, per the chat, Cooper would just as soon suggest that Monroe's nickname reflect an animal that maintains a low center of gravity.

I don't think Moose is gonna change. He likes it and perpetuates it.

Dre works for me with Drummond. Penguin nicknames aren't really fitting IMO... despite his love for them.

The chat suggested Bulwinkle for Monroe, and Rocky for Calderon. :-)

Even fantasy sport writers call Monroe to Moose.

Cauldron for Calderon? when it pours from there, it rains :rain:

Instead of Bucket of Turd, how about Buckats of Treys?

I dig what you're saying and you are absolutely right. Your feelings regarding Charlie are based on fact (numbers). My feelings against Charlie are based on emotion. Admitedly, my feelings are misdirected. I should be mad a Joe for signing him, not Charlie for being "Charlie".

By all accounts, Charlie is a good guy. I don't hate the player, I hate the player's game. I dislike that he's a member of my favorite team. I dislike the fact that he's stole money from them ever since he was signed and is the undisputed poster child for abysmal post-Goin'-to-Work Pistons. I dislike the fact that he's often seen joking around and acting like an idiot while his team is on their way to another draft lottery. I dislike the fact that he doesn't seem to take his job seriously.

I'm excited that he's got some positive advanced stats and he's put together a good two-game stretch. My excitement stems from that fact that this success has a positive effect on his trade value and Joe might be able to send him to another team so he can be THEIR laughing stock instead of ours.

I resent Charlie for delaying the Pistons' rebuilding process (even though Joe is really the one to blame).
I'm soooooo freaking ready to move on to the next chapter and put these losing years behind us!

Charlie is an escapegoat for the collective disappointment of our fan base right now. My feeling is, this is a guy who didn't even play for the first quarter of the season, when we were awful, and yet we still act towards him like it was his fault.

yep. I've said somewhere something like that: charlie is the face of the franchise right now. Not players fault but dysfunctional collectively and financially too commited to team(overpaid long contracts).

We've been paying BoT a crapload of money for the past couple of years.
He's only started earning it the past couple of games.

    I guess I don't forgive that easily.

Monroe is a big guy with no flight. For me, the first nickname that comes to mind is emu.

He has way too much finesse for Rhino.

I reckon Dre should be Kangaroo, because he can jump. On the Australian animals note, Rodney Stuckey can be Koala because he is stocky and plays like he is stoned 20 hours a day.

New nickname for Singler: The Fox. Because of all the trick "buckets" he's been doing. Trickster -> Fox.
