With Paul George (pre injury), Dre & Moose, we will be a championship team, not just contender for the East.

Yeah it's fun to dream, but the chances of Monroe signing with the Pistons is slim at best. At the beginning of the season all of us pretty much agreed on this. Now we think he will want to come back because the team has had some modest success after the first 28 games. If you read the interview with Falk it points to the Moose breaking loose and heading for greener pastures.

Agreed. That's why I thought we should have traded him and got back at least something in return.

If he resigns, we have to spent a ton of money on him. If he doesn't, then we can spend the same ton of money to sign someone else. If we traded him, it would have had to be for someone under contract longer to get something for him that matters. Why would that outer team do it since Monroe could bolt?

Right. They could just wait and sign him without giving up anything...plus Monroe has veto power.

I am starting to rethink the whole front court. We know the impact a big man can have on a team. So if we have 2 of them who are supposed to be so good - then why do we still suck?

Can't you spend a lot more money if you first sign a big-name free agent or two, THEN go over the cap by re-signing your own free agent?

You sure Monroe wants to be on YOUR team. If you want him you better go get him.
Personally none of the Pistons have won anything of value over the last 6 yr. Why should they have any value.
They haven't been good for each other for 6 yr.

We were one of the best teams in the entire NBA before Jennings went down. You need balance, direction, player buy-in, and some talent, of course.

No that was just a freak win streak, every team has them. I remember when the 1993 Pistons went out and swept a west coast trip, that did not make Cadillac Anderson our center of the future. I also judge Jennings on the year and change he had with us before the win streak.

Anyway my point is, we are talking about giving max contracts to these 2 which would be what - about half our cap space? If you give a max to Moose then you must surely give one to Dre. Are they worth it? Going to be worth it? Is there that much room for improvement to justify spending half the cap on these 2,

Did we ever have a Cadillac Anderson Appreciation thread?

SG that might have talent but is very young.... SF that was a backup at best with no real backup... now we have two vets who shouldnt be starting or playing heavy mins in any shape of form.... Our PG situation was looking good then gets hurt, we limped along with a backup playing good.... now we starting over yet again with a new player that doesn't have chemistry with the team.

Confidence going to the future if Monroe stays.... I say the 4 and 5 spots are by far our strongest.

Something like this. With my eggs scrambled, I can't think through the cap procedure. I *think* there is a cap hold amount for Monroe that only goes away when he officially signs with someone else.

That's a fair analysis , we will see. And as others have said we may not even have a choice with Moose.

    Good stuff.

If we had a reliable threat from the perimeter, teams would think twice about doubling Moose down low. Right now, teams just pack the paint and limit post scoring and drives to the basket. Currently, our ability to win depends on KCP and Meeks having decent games.
