don't be surprised when Troy Murphy takes minutes from CV - he fights for his life( read: contract) :icon_evil:
I can tell that you're pretty excited about the prospect of adding Petro to to our current stable (it actually smells like a stable) of Piston bigs.
It seems this deal may have hit a minor snag. I don't see how this impacts the rest of the trade. Sources: Carmelo Anthony may be biggest snag in trade - ESPN
The Pistons will have to send either DaJuan Summers or Terrico White with Rip to get back Petro and a 2nd round pick.
Here is a little preview of what Petro could do in Detroit: YouTube - Johan Petro Signs Autographs in Detroit on 12/26/08
He has a pretty elaborate autograph. Perhaps Johan knew this day would eventually come....he was building up his Detroit fan base years ago.
Amare beckons Melo to the dark side Stoudemire tries to recruit Anthony - NBA - Yahoo! Sports Here's a quote of interest: My thought is, why don't we just add Stuckey in the mix and land Harris? Send Stuck to Denver along with Murphy's expiring and then receive Harris/Petro and pick from NJ?
The ideal scenario is we also send away Bynum and lend Harris. Have Harris and Gordon start with TMac and Stuckey off the bench. Daye being the primary backup to Prince.
Bill Simmons: Solving the Carmelo Anthony situation - ESPN I thought Simmons makes a pretty good point in this column. Melo has earned an estimated $75.5mil from Denver so far. Is it really worth a few extra million to go to the rebuilding Nets when he could wait it out, go to New York, and make them title contenders? Simmons' other scenario is the Clippers. They seem to have the potential to offer an even more enticing package for Melo than NJ can (including Minnesota's UNPROTECTED 2012 first round pick), it makes you wonder why they haven't tried it or why Denver is not interested. We got a shout-out in the article, too...
This is a really great Simmons article. Enjoyed every bit of it. Thanks for posting it, cj. For the record, he makes a great case for the Clippers. My personal preference would be for Devin Harris to end up a Piston somehow, for Rip to end up somewhere else maybe playing with his BFF. This would really help my fantasy team ALOT, as I have Ty Lawson and Al Harrington and if they are moving chairs on the Denver Titanic I'd like to see those guys get some serious burn. Without Carmelo and Chauncey, that might happen for the Aurora Guardians. But I just love Devin Harris and have thought for a long time I'd love to see him in a Pistons uni.
Hopefully Joe is working on a back-up plan in the event that this deal is a bust. You can't just DNPCD your team captain and not expect problems. I feel pretty bad for Q at this point.
atleast JoeD has 1,5 months til deadline. but my hopes are not very high anyway: unlikely to houston, our GM has no attractive trade assets ( only Tay).
