Are we still of the belief that Dumars over-values his players? Is Rip with a draft pick too? If this deal falls apart over the draft pick; is it because Joe over valued or went for broke and lost?

the problem is that JoeD is so busy fixing his own mistakes that he has no time doing things that help the team significantly. He turned Darko into Stuckey and maybe he'll manage to get rid of RIP, but he needs to stop doing mistakes and making good moves on a constant basis instead of getting any probs for correcting them in the first place.

in hindsight we know exactly what went wrong.

rule no 1: In GMing there is no guarantees. Every move involves risks. Injuries happen, players neither do not fit nor play as projected.

You're commiting very typical fan mistake: you're taking everything for granted.

Dumars has nothing to lose - he simply can unload Rip's practically expiring deal a year later if trade fails.

But for Nets and Nuggets everything is at stake.

Is it too late to include Stuckey in this deal?

We can get Harris, but alot of "IF's" need to happen for a such a trade.
I read that Denv really didn't want Harris because they already had Lawson IF this is true, that could've made Harris a Piston.

IF the rumors that Denv wants to unload Harrington are true, that can help make Harris a Piston.

IF Denv would be willing to take Murphy's expiring instead of Harris, that could help make Harris a Piston.

Basically Harrington+Harris instead of Murphy would satisfy the trade requirements with Rip going out, however Petro would have to find a different destination.

I like Murphy and I think he is a perfect complement to Monroe, 6'10" and can rebound like crazy and is a GREAT 3pt shooter, sets a pretty good ball screen and with his shooting ability that can really open things up for T-Mac and The Super Collider. I hope he changes his mind, I really think he fills a void that we desperately need right now.

True, Murphy and a (1st rd) pick for Rip would be a coup de gras.

To me it's hilarious that after this potential deal the Nuggets basically become the Nets and vice Versa.

Except the Nets have Avery, who is going to get along so well with Melo.

I'd like to see him play too. Good shooter and he'd definitely be a rebounding upgrade over CV.

But, I can understand him wanting a buyout. He'd get a shot at a ring when Orlando picks him up for the stretch run and the playoffs. He fits their system.

It ain't happen, CB's the trade breaker. Which way will benefit him more, to be Camelo's accessory and watch the house for CP3 or staying in Denver at this time of his career ?

Sounding sorta desperate to get rid of Rip's contract. IMO Joe should have held out for a 1st rounder for having to negotiate Murphy's buyout and taking Petro.

Man, How can Rip read things like this about him. Think it would inspire him.

@detteam - taking into consideration that NO ONE wanted Rip, it is a very good deal for Pistons, although still on the paper. .

Also, Denver has still some options: NY ( although NY trade scenario was bluffing, I guess) Portland? and Houston for Melo left and for those scenarios surely there is no place for Detroit.

Some of those idiots need to shut up about the details of this trade. The whole process is getting prolonged because Denver is pissed that someone keeps running to the media with every little thing to try to pressure them into pulling the trigger.

I felt a little sorry for Rip last night, he's been here a long time, and its somewhat sad to think he may be gone, altho I know it is for the best, its still a little sad.

    Regarding Rip;
Can you miss someone and be glad they're gone at the same time?

Denver is being way too greedy here, they are already getting a great deal. If we weren't involved in this, I'd say screw Denver and let them get nothing in return for Anthony. They act like they have all the leverage here, when in reality, they hold none.

I disagree. Denver has all the leverage. They're the ones holding it up. The Nets are desperate to do this deal. It would have been done last week if it was up to the Nets or Pistons. It would have been done last month if it was up to the Nets, Charlotte, and Utah.

Denver's guys are inexperienced, but they know they have all the leverage. Melo will never sign with NJ unless it's via sign-and-trade.
