Well the schedule was released and all the hype about the off season moves yielded 3 National TV broadcasts. Ouch. The Lakers featuring Chris Kaman received the maximum 25. I know they are the Lakers, but wow. Those will be some BAD late night games for you East Coast fans out there.

On a side note, my Pistons comes out to the Bay to face the Warriors.

That's a crazy quirk in the schedule. That is like 68 years in a row now that the Pistons have visited the Warriors.

    November doesn't look easy.
Some difficult opponents early in the month.
Some difficult travel toward middle and end of the month. (a west coast trip and a couple Home/Away back-to-backs)

The Pistons got 4 of their first 5 at home and then they only have a 4 game trip out West. That is cupcake city compared to recent years.

(Is there a reason the Pistons always go out west to start the year? Does the circus come to the Palace or something like that?)

NBA just doesn't like the Pistons, I guess.

Here are the TV schedules for each of the major networks, for those of you without LP.

No love for the Pistons on TNT until playoff time (we hope), ESPN has given us a shot to strut our stuff on Nov 15, as we tackle the Kings in Sacramento and another @ Orlando on Feb 5th.

NBA TV is showing Nuggets at Pistons on Feb 8, and Detroit at Boston on March 9th. If we are good and come out the gate playing well, we might be able to snag a fan voted game on NBATV on one the Tuesday fan nights. Possibly Knicks at Pistons on 11/19, or the Pistons at Heat on 12/3

I'd love to see some leecaps of these old games.

"In '87, it was pretty obvious that Chuck Daly wasn't interested in winning games. Why else would he give Vinnie Johnson so many minutes at shooting guard. At 6'2", Johnson is too small to defend NBA 2 guards. Daly's refusal to start a proper sized 6'-6" off guard in John Schweitz (or even Jeff Taylor at 6'4") is clear evidence of a coach with an agenda against winning games."

    A rotation:
    Starters-
Chuck Nevitt -C, Kurt Nimphius - PF, Adrian Dantly - SF, John Swartz - SG and Isiah Thomas - PG.
At 9:15 left in the 1st quarter, Vinnie Johnson (a PG) subs for Thomas, Mahorn for Nimphius. Tony Campbell comes in for Dantley 2 minutes and 17 seconds later. Mahorn is quite a player but being a bigger man he can only play in small stretches before he gets tired. At around 5:40 left, Cozell McQueen subs for Mahorn and John Salley (a true Center unlike Laimbeer) comes in for Nevitt.
    ...etc. ...etc. ...etc."

    :hoops:

I couldn't find a single picture of Kurt Nimphius wearing a Pistons jersey on the internet. I did, however, find this picture when looking up Nimphius Pistons:

I think it's pretty obvious that the King Of Pop is simply too short to effectively guard NBA shooting guards.

    Nimphius had a good look.

I played with this dude in high school that found an old Kurt Nimphius-Dallas Mavericks B-Ball card laying on the ground.
He taped that thing up on his locker and it stayed there the whole year.
(...that's basically the only Kurt Nimphius story that I got.)

Thank God we didn't have forums back then or I would have such a cynical view of the Bad Boys era.

I would love to see MJ vs MJ.

I gotta imagine that as competitive as Jordan was, he just straight killed the King of Pop.
...Jordan was probably throwing elbows and swatting Jacko's shots into the mezzanine level.
I'm sure that he took it to him the same way that Charles Barkley destroyed Barney the dinosaur in that SNL skit a few years back.
