Re: J-Maxiell and Delfino Options Picked up by Pistons

Not sure how Maxiel's minutes will be distributed but I would guess that McDyess will have his minutes lowered until playoff time (similar to Hunter).
I don't want to get into a 100 different lineup scenarios but I would like to see how others view this years minutes distribution.
    Just off the cuff:
    PF...Sheed- 20, Dice- 16, Jmax- 12
    PG...Chauncey- 32, Flip- 14, Hunter- 2
    SG...Rip- 34, Flip- 12, Hunter- 4
    C...Nazr- 28, Sheed- 14, Davis- 6
    SF...Tay- 33, Carlos- 15

This is based on real PT not players getting PT once every 20 games (read Amir & Dupree)
Other players likely to get their PT based on injuries of frontline players.

I think Amir and Blalock will spend most of the year in the D-League.

Mods feel free to move this to a different thread.

I agree with you on the minutes distribution Mercury.

However, I think JMax may take some of McDyess' minutes and Sale Davis will split sometime between PF and Center chewing up maybe 5-6 MPG depending on who is struggling.

    Wallace ~ 34 MPG
    Mohammed ~ 29 MPG

    McDyess ~ 22 MPG
    Murray ~ 20 MPG
    Delfino ~ 15 MPG
    Davis ~ 8 MPG
    Maxiell ~ 3 MPG

Assuming Flip will always be Flip, no matter what he says:

    CB 36
    Rip 34
    Tay 36
    Sheed 34
    Nazr 32

    Flip 25
    Delfino 12
    Dice 25
    Jmax 5

Hunter and Davis reserved for certain matchups and emergencies. Essentially down to a 7 man lineup again, with Delfino and Jmax getting spot duties.

It might be optimistic but I would like to see it more like this. I really want the starters to play fewer minutes:

    Billups ~ 32 MPG
    Hamilton ~ 32 MPG
    Prince ~ 32 MPG
    Wallace ~ 32 MPG
    Mohammed ~ 32 MPG

    McDyess ~ 27 MPG
    Murray ~ 15 MPG
    Delfino ~ 15 MPG
Davis ~ 2 MPG (spot minutes mainly)
Maxiell ~ 10 MPG (some of it at SF)

    Probably won't work this way, but . . .

Mid to upper 30`s for the starters is probably what we will see, unfortunately...............until Terry Porter takes over right before the All Star break.................

It might be interesting to see what TP & Cowens history of playing bench players.
I think we got a little glimps yesterday of our bench... Could it be that we may be a little overconfident in their ability to outplay opponent bench players?... why are our guys better?... they were definately lacking defensive reactions.

That was just one outing Merc. I think we badly want a bench that can just hold it down and give our starters some rest going into the post season, perhaps, this group can get it done is our thinking.

Our bench needs that energy player, one who can come in and ignite the crowd at home and encourage his peers to bring it each and every night. That player could be J-Max, however, he probably will not get enough minutes to be that player.

We know these guys can play, but can Flip, TP and Cowens motivate them to perform in their system. Only time will tell.............come on Nov 1st!!!!!!!!!

Re: J-Maxiell and Delfino Options Picked up by Pistons

Sheed will have to get 30-35 (whether he likes it or not)...trade fodder and he will have to have decent numbers for the gentle push. Dice gets rest; et. al.

Ditto for CB with Ronald, Hunter getting time; et. al.

Rip should get near 30 and Ronald, Delfino get rest; et. al

Narz should get 30, Dice gets rest; et. al.

Tay should get near 30, Maxiell, Ronald, Delfino get rest; et. al.

If Delfino can get his head straight, then all bets off and a three guard motion offense that penetrates should give us a better motion offense. The recent game with Denver should show us that the pistons will not get it done from the outside. And Delfino, please go with your strength (for now) and concentrate on penetration and forget the bricks from the outside...settle down!

Considering Flip's recent comments on small ball, need to adjust my prediction. I guess Flip likes playing Flip2 at the 2 and moving Rip and Tay up a notch, with Sheed at center.

New prediction (instead the starting 6 it's now the starting 7):
    CB 37 mpg
    Rip 37 mpg
    Tay 38-40 mpg
    Sheed 35 mpg
    Nazr 20 mpg
    Dice 30 mpg
    Flip2 30 mpg

    Delfino under 10 mpg
    JMax garbage time
Hunter and Davis, stealing paychecks (but not their faults, they're getting paid to sit)

BTW, the unit that gets the most minutes: CB, Flip, Rip, Tay, and Sheed.
