I'm pretty sure Middleton took it easy on the Pistons, out of respect for the team that drafted him. Don't expect that to happen again.

On a side note, according to Google, people who searched for Khris Middleton also searched for Ken English and V. Kravtsov, Lee, I think you have singlehandedly influenced the mighty Google.

I still wish we didn't give up on Middleton so easy. English turned out to be garbage but I really like Khris. He is playing well for the Bucks.

Speaking of out of position. ESPN has him listed as a PF.

Although he is out of position a bit at power forward, he actually defends the position pretty well. Smith was a bit of a load for him though. Anyway, so far, Middleton plays almost always as a power forward, a little small forward, and no shooting guard for Milwaukee. (I would like to see him as our backup shooting guard and backup small forward.)

Since I'm on a synergy kick tonight, here is Middleton's figures:

    Offense: 0.98 ppp (pretty nice)
    Defense: 0.97 ppp

If he's really playing PF, then he's holding his own in the size mismatch. i.e. he scores well and gives up buckets easily too. On post ups against him, opponents are 0-7 though, so they aren't over powering him. He's getting hurt the most when his man spots up and shoots. On offense, he's doing the most damage on fast breaks and is pretty evenly good in other categories, but nothing else over 1.00.

Middleton is too small to be a PF. I have seen you write about JJ being over matched, and I don't care what ESPN says, Middleton is 3" smaller and 30 odd pounds lighter than JJ.

Evidence of just how bad Brandon Knight is.

Knight's been hurt and he's on a really bad team... just ask Jennings.

So, he's getting his feet wet with a bunch of new guys minus their best player (who's also injured). Not an likely situation to break out of the gates from.

I wouldn't judge him until he at least gets into a rhythm. I doubt he'll impress even then, but just to be fair...

He had a per of 18.7 last year and led the team in that, rebounds, blocks, d rating, and was 2nd in win shares. He averaged 13 and 13 with almost 4 blocks per 36. Exact same as drummond this year, but with more than double the blocks.

He was #1 in the league in block percentage last year. #6 in the league in defensive rating behind Tim Duncan, Roy Hibbert, Paul George, Tony Allen, and Marc Gasol.

He good on D. The Bucks dropped from 12th last year in points allowed per 100 possessions to 28th without him.

Length, quickness, and toughness matter too. Like I said, Middleton is a bit out of position at power forward. But that is where Milwaukee is playing him. And he is not so bad, in some situations, at defending that position. Middleton works well, for instance, shutting down a guy like Nowitski, where length and quickness are the key.

Middleton is probably the guy Dirk least wants to play against since Walter Herrmannn is no longer around. When the Bucks play the Mavs on Dec 14 don't be surprised if Dirk suddenly gets "injured" in the pre-game warmups and sits this one out.

You had me until here. Nowitzki's shots are literally impossible to block. And no, athleticism isn't the key. Dirk just shoots over you.
