Rose has been on 1st take the last two days and while he didn't retreat from his comments he commented that that was how he felt at that point and he was a 17 year old unfiltered kid. He also said nothing said was a suprise to the Duke players because they were saying that on the court back that to them.

Him and King both said they respected the program but didn't back down from the comments that inner city kids still arn't recruited.

The line that really hit home and probably is true.... Jimmy King answered when asked if Rose would be recruited today by Duke. "Rose wouldn't be recruited but his kids would be"

The Tennessee guy did that to alert the OSU AD that it's not too late to load up on Tressel...:gun1:

I have to agree he doesn't owe the school one per say, but something in some sort of the way needs to happen so that Mich and the Fab 5 as a whole (and that includes Webber) can be on good terms again...

I want them to be included again, part of the Mich program... I never heard all the details about what happened with the whole Martin thing when it happened. From comments that I hear from the other 4 along with Alboms I have to say Webbers offensives were less severe then those of other players over time that got punished less for there offensives.

Every big time school has boosters. We kept Rose from going to UNLV because Martin had his/our back. Tark was about to take over NCAA BBall so the NCAA shut him down. They haven't recovered either but Vegas is Runnin' Rebel to this day.
So do we even know what Martin did ?

    Me too.....

....but the comment by Jim Nantz that the Fab Five ruined Michigan basketball irks me....the only part I can agree on is that they never got back to that level or sustained that level of play after the Five left.

As Mitch said... if Webber was getting major bucks he hid it well while in school, Chris asked him for gas money more then once during the Soph year. Mitch said he thinks Chris got any major money it was after he was done playing but before the Draft. Rose said he told the truth about getting money from Martin and his name wasn't mentioned in the NCAA's judgment against the school. It was Webber and two other players that were post Fab 5.... I think the major money going the players way started post fab 5 imo, and while that hurt the program I think the way Mich Admin delt with the BBall program the next 15 years hurt the program more then anything that the Martin issue's did.

Between 1988 and 1993 Martin gave Webber about $280,000.

Yep to much emphasis on trying to get another national championship in football after 97 and then trying to beat The Vested OSU the last 9 years.

The BB team had gotten the short end and despite all of the cash influx from the Fab Five, they still play at the same Crisler arena that opened in 1967 after Cazzie left.

The Football stadium has gone through renovations and added 9000 seats and some luxury boxes, but Crisler still looks the same as it did when I used to go the games back in 1976 during the Rickey Green years

Webber admitted $34,000 of it when he paid Martin back.

$34K would pay for a car and insurance. Plus a nice fur coat. I know about the Michigan hawk.

I toldya....Michigan so far has the largest margin of vicitory in the tournament (75-45) and the first team in tourney history to win a game without making a FT. They shot one in the first half and missed it.

I still feel sorry for Bruce Pearl....maybe Joe should hire him ....at least as an assistant

Jalen Rose aims to smooth things over with Grant Hill | detnews.com | The Detroit News

To bad the Suns are playing in LA Sunday....other wise Jalen and Grant could have sat with Tim Hardaway Sr in Charlotte to watch the post fab rematch and patch up things. Of course Jim Nantz would again be calling the game and after a Duke win, would still say that Rose & the other fab 4 ruined M ball for the next 10 years..:sssh:
