Despite all the problems, our starters were only minus 3 as of the early minutes of the 3rd quarter - so we must have been doing something right. Like they had Deng checking Morris well, but Harris was on fire against the too small Wade. So, as a pair of forwards, they were getting the job done. Dre was rebounding well as always, scoring some points. Jackson was scoring. Even Pope finally managed to do some scoring in the 3rd quarter. Our starters did not do that bad at all really, they just have absolutely no backup off the bench.

Despite other problems, the inability of Baynes to move well, and the utter incapability from Blake on all aspects of defense show up so glaringly as to make the other problems very, very small in comparison.

Blake is an old backup point guard. He is not relevant to the future of this team. Stan Johnson is very important and it's more relevant to discuss him. I think our bench will be dramatically better next year just by his improvement. OMB is just filling a hole in the lineup. But here is a clip of OMB getting into a fight in college:

I'll agree SVG forced the wrong players into this embarrassment.

    -
Strange, that's not the game I heard on the radio. The TEAM was constantly battling back from double digit deficits from mid 1st Q.
They would get it to 4-7 or so then do the turns thing and languish for several minutes.
P.S I stopped listening about half through the 4thQ
The GODS stole Morris' ability to ball so the Heat could win for reasons I don't know !

    re Blake fight:
so Blake butt-bumps Gil. pretty good to block him out. And Gil's. arm grazes Blakes head and Gil grabs his shoulder, for some reason.
Then some guy starts interfering with Blake and Blake takes a right hand.

I am not a particularly religious man, but I feel it is necessary to point out that Steve Blake is a devout Christian today.

Anyone that watched the game last night would know that Blake was not the main problem.

It really wasn't the defense last night...we just got out hustled on the loose balls and the guys that normally shoot>>Morris, KCP and at times Johnson were a shameful 2-22 from the field. They only went to the FT line 4 times, and just hit 2 of those. So there was no aggressiveness in going to the hoop other than Harris and Jackson. Dre looked great in the first quarter, but touched the ball only 4 times in the second half. even then he was too far from the hoop in my opinion. No dunk or alley oop opportunities were in play.

Pope....14-54 in his last 5 games....8 assists, including 1 dime in the last three games. If your shooting guard in shooting 25.9% over a five game stretch, maybe he should check himself and think pass/move the ball instead of shooting because that is your position title....

I'm guessing that if you Google "Steve Blake fight" you're going to get a few search results.
    OMB is a scrapper.

I remember him trying to beat up Kenneth Faried a few years ago.
You don't realize how big Kenneth Faried is until you see Steve Blake trying to fight him.

unlike RIP, a great shooter whom one could expect to come out of a slump. KCP has never been a great shooter.
I know I've been following him for 3 yr.
KCP goes from average shooter to reslumping within a 3 game week, biweekly.
But you don't quit on him, you let other teams think they need a KCP so you can deal him for plus value.

Actually, if you look at Effective Field Goal percentage, KCP (47.4%) is a better shooter than Rip (46.9%)

KCP (46.4%) is slightly better at 2-point shooting than Rip (46.3%).

Rip (34.6%) is better at 3-point accuracy than KCP (32.5%).

KCP shoots a higher volume of 3-pointers. He has already made 320 in a couple of years compared to 530 that Rip made in 14 years.

RIP's last couple of yr. was bad are you including them.
RIP's game with Pistons was not as a perimeter shooter.

My EXACT Sentiment! I think KCP's defense is overrated. He's an above average defender, which is good, but he's not a lock-down defender. I think we need to look at another option.
I would gladly package Stanley, KCP and a 1st round pick to acquire a legit all-star level SG. I don't want to dog the guys out, but I look at KCP and SJ as Amir JOhnson type players; they're good players who will stay in the league and have really good careers but I don't see them as cornerstone players that you hold on to because one day you will be sad that you traded them when they're taking the league by storm.

But, I'm also aware that there aren't really any good SG's in the league to acquire via trade. Even if James Harden was available via (that) trade, could you imagine Reggie and Harden in the back-court together. DEPLORABLE DEFENSE!

That is 3 first round picks.

Is MJ coming out of retirement?

Exactly. SVG seems much more thoughtful in how he is putting this team together. In some ways, it's similar to our 2004 championship building process.

I don't. KCP makes the team significantly better simply by being on the floor. He always guards the best offensive player and is very good at it.

SJ has barely had a chance to make an impression. Talk about him next year.

Bullock is only 25 yrs old. Why can't he be in the 'long term plan'? Why can't he be part of the future? Why does he has to be here in the D for a temporary stay? If he can bring it consistently, both he & StanJo can be in the long term plan and part of the future. It's up to SVG how he wanna split their minutes or rotate them in a game. StanJo can play position 1-4. I guess Bullock can play position 2-4 as well.

So far I can see that for the all the 'bad shooting' games Bullock played, StanJo has more than double it. For all the 'good shooting' games Bullock played, StanJo can only match it.

I'm not here to trash StanJo, nor to promote Bullock. I'm here to support the team and whoever is playing for the team. If they are good, play them. If they give you more + than -, play them. And I hope both of them can improve and bring it next season as well. What I like about them is their 'youth'.
