Every loss someone finds a way to blame it on Walt.
When you got scrubs playing, they normally are going to be good every other game. We can't get everyday consistent production out of them, because they are not used to playing everyday.. If Alf had played more in every game situations, his shot would be better...it was probably off today because he was worried about how he was going to stop Wade the next time down.... With that being said, the Scrubs may play well vs the Bulls on Tuesday and then tank it vs the Lakers on Thursday.... They actually aren't that bad, so when the walking injured return (Sheed and Rip) Curry should have no problem having the confidence to play Alf, Bynum, KB, etc...to give those guys a blow...so in effect we may have gone from a 7.5 deep squad to a 10 deep team. You are correct we have no 3 pt threat that we can count on. We have to hit at least 5-6 threes a game to expect to win these and hit them at key times. Also this team has still not mastered how to score out of a time out.??? The Herrman 3 that he hit in the waning seconds today was the only one that I can recall where we actually scored after Curry called a TO, other than shooting at the FT line.....are these guys listening?? Are the plays to complicated or to asinine? There is no execution in the last two minutes and definitely none when it comes making that shot after a called time out.. In this game, when they tried to hit the jumper from outside, Wade mugs/fouls Alf and blocks his shot...when they tried to go to the hoop, Wade mugs/fouls Stucco and blocks his shots. In each case Wade was literally inside Alf's and Rodney's jockstraps trying to stop the hoop and everyone with striped shirt and ABC Mic ignored it. With a a few more seconds I would have maybe flipped that pass to stationary Dice to make to make the 10 ft jumper or even given it back to a charging to the hoop Tay for a slam...ut then again we are taking about Stuckey so either of the passes would have probably been in Wades hands going the other way...after all he had already taken two steals like that earlier from Stuck and Bynum. Also why does Tay always have to be the one to throw in the pass??? Maybe that is why we can't score after a time out?
Yep so far every game that Walt Sharpe plays in we win....if we don't win, blame it on him for not getting in the game
I tivo'ed this game, but judging by the reactions i should only watch it if i'm interested in breaking my remote. Screw the NBA and Wade. Just be happy we don't have to play those <insert very bad word> in the PO's.
I'm not one to usually pin losses on officiating, but the zebras definitely lost this game. So many bad calls down the stretch.... we were absolutely ROBBED!!!
I didn't even mind Curry getting tech/thrown out at the end...I just hope he got off a good one about the refs mother before he was escorted out.. did any one hear his post game press conference?? Just wondering if he said anything else about the officiating that could cost him $25G's Question of the day came in the first half when ABC sideline reporter Lisa Salters asked Rip how his balls were feeling and all he could give Lisa was a bunch of you knows like she really did know... Also who bought Rip his sport jacket with a hoodie on it??
That seems to be his new style. I remember Sheed chasing him around with a video camera trying to get a picture of his "leather hoodie". If this game costs us the seed opposite ORL so help me god. I'll go visit my cuz in MIA and make sure i'm courtside to tell Wade how great he is during the game j/k. LOL
I would have been thrown out too. The BS double standards in this league fro "star" players are truly despicable. I don't even know why I bother sometimes... If it's not the coach screwing us out of wins, it's the officials.
I am with you all on this. Local papers are going to spin as they should not have been that close anyway but they were. And you are going to get games that are that close. Been seeing them all season. Its bad enough that Wade gets calls - Now he is able to foul other players and get away with it? This madness must end. Exact same play there as when Stucky was called with a lot more contact on Wades end on Stucky.
Yeah, me too. I just checked in on the forum to make sure I wasn't holding up the redistribution draft and I caught the headline. I still probably have to watch it, but it's good to know that I shouldn't get emotionally involved ahead of time.
at least it is good to know that for next year backup pg and sg positions are solid ( I assume that Dice and AI won't be here next year).
Obviously Iverson won't be back, but I hope Dyess is.
Lots of good play. But Curry will find a way to lose. I see a lot about the calls. I have seen a lot worse. We had every chance to win this one. Forget blaming the refs. Like Afflalo's "touch foul". Afflalo grabbed Wades right arm. This was no light, inconsequential "touch." And Wade clearly got all ball, and then got Afflalo on the follow thru. Ben Wallace has gotten that call a million times for us in the past. Didn't hear any complaints back then. Sure there were some bad calls, but this game was going to be lost - cause we got a coach who coaches primarily to find a way to lose the game. Amir played more in this one. But not in the 2nd half. Dyess had a good game - but got no rest in the 2nd half. Herrmann played in the 1st half, missed several shots, played no defense at all. (We actually zone when he is in to hide him - and its a bad zone.) So Curry played him even more in the 2nd half. And we lost a lead with him in. Again, no defense. Missing shots. We again play the weak zone. When the lead evaporated, Curry took Herrmann out. But hey, if we had been ahead more, Herrmann would have played more, ensuring the loss. Tay was aggressive enough, continually backing down Moon for hook ins. Stuckey had the outside shot going. Bynum got inside and to the line a lot. Afflalo shot poorly from deep but did hit one triple plus several other shots. And he played Wade most of the time on defense. How amazing is it that the guy you choose to start the game, the guy you choose to put on Wade, could not get playing time over Herrmann for several games. I can't emphasize more, we lose because of our coach. Kwame played a good game. Good defense. Even scored some points. And wow, his free throw shooting has went from nowhere to steady. But he could not get back into the game after coming out mid-third quarter. This makes no sense. Not even the slightest. In Curry's mind, it might, but I doubt any sensible observer of basketball can explain how Curry decides to leave a 35 year old basketball player in a whole half while not playing a younger, quite capable player, to spell him a bit. Dyess hit plenty of shots, got plenty of rebounds. Nice hustle play to save the ball from going OB. JMAX was a monster on the offensive boards. He did not secure the defensive rebound to win this game for us, but he was up there helping make them miss that last shot. As someone mentioned, no defensive boards, save one, for JMAX. But that person did not probably bother watching the game. Miami got virtually no offensive rebounds in this game. I think they ended up getting three for the entire game, including, unfortunately, those two clutch ones right at the end. But hey, if Miami was getting no offensive rebounds, then we certainly can't complain about our defensive rebounding. Let me say that a different way. If your team is well nie perfect on defensive rebounding - which the Pistons were just about the whole game, you can't complain about your team's defensive rebounds.
This is completely untrue. We blame Curry for playing Walt, and thus losing the game.
something that will surely inspire you about watching Pistons games for the next few years So our "future star" doesn't even need to be figured out by opposing coaches; even the players can read him like a book. And it's not just Stuckey's fault either. Let's not forget the retard who calls the predictable plays. I don't completely abandon hope under any circumstances, but the odds and percentages probably indicate that we're going to be a mediocre, sucky team for the next few years. Because Joe doesn't value superstars like he values guys from small schools/guys with no muscles/guys who are vertically challened.
I watched the game and i'll agree with your assessment about the rotations. As terrible as those calls were this game was lost before that. However, it should have been a win and we needed it to be at this point in the season so i'm still pissed. When you're playing with a handicap it's likely that you're going to get stuck in these toss-up situations. As for Max, i will not go in to detail about that defensive rebound only pointing out that this is the 3rd time it's happened at the end of a crucial game. Also i really dislike the Bynum/Stuck backcourt for extended time.
I agree. This was ridiculous....and I NEVER blame the officials. The foul on Stuckey when Wade shot at the top of the key with 1:50 left was terrible. Stuckey jumped straight up and Wade kicked his feet forward to draw contact. As an official, you have to let that crap go, irregardless of who is taking the shot. Then, Afflalo gots clobbered shooting the three and it's a no-call. You either call them both a foul or you let them both go. That is just plain stupid.
whats even worse was the announcers.... going on how great a move by wade it was to move his lower body after the shot to get contact and go to the line, then how great a job wade did on defense against AA and how that sort of contact should be let go..... this all in what 2 mins of real time... to fight both sides of the same arguement? Key moment of the game was the other foul called on AA the 4th foul on him was a slight touch foul 40 feet fromt he basket taking him out of the game in the 3rd quarter or early 4th? same thing with stuckey.... Wade goes to the hole and maybe gets a small amount of contact and its a foul for sure.... then on the last play, stuckey goes to the hole (i don't care if you know its coming or not, i still like the call) get bumped/hit and its not a foul per the announcers... ok.... its live action and the refs were out of position or whatever excuse you want to use.... FINE.... but how can the announcers who watch the replay numerous times even have the slightest amount of any professionalism and be able to be that pathetic and live with themselves when they can all but lie out there in front of the world. If there are any miami fans that happen to read this forum, can you in all honesty say the refs/announcers were even close to being fair/good. That said yes the team made enough mistakes to lose the game at the end, and as one of my highschool coaches says never let the game be close enough for the ref's to have the ability to decide the outcome of the game.
And yet, Wade still needed to foul him to "stop" him. I find it funny because Wade didn't even exactly deny fouling him after the game... he said it could have gone "either way". Lol, what a copout.
