WHAT??? MCGRADY TO DETROIT? I'm in rush right now.. heading out.. but I just saw in the Draftexpress twitter, they said that McGrady will sign with Detroit Pistons for 1 year!!! WHAT???? Another SG/SF ???????????????? I never liked T-Mac.. I always sees him like another Iverson.. maybe Joe D wants to sell T-Shirts..

Not that I have any problem with McGrady - I'd rather have him than Hamilton, for example - but I don't see the logic behind a trade if McGrady is a free agent.

If the Pistons did sign McGrady (and signed their draftee Terrico White), that would put the team at 15 players: PG – Stuckey, Bynum, White SG – Hamilton, Gordon, McGrady SF – Prince, Daye, Summers PF – Villanueva, Jerebko, Maxiell C – Wallace, Monroe, Wilcox There are some serious logjams there. For one thing, 3 guys don't even dress. It's probably Wilcox, Summers, and White if they suited up for a game today. The biggest and most obvious problem is having so many guards and small forwards. The only way this makes any sense at all is if Dumars has something else cooking.

Re: WHAT??? MCGRADY TO DETROIT? It's a good move because it draws some attention on the Pistons, people still pay to see him, his jersey sells and it could also mean Rip and/or Tay will leave town. T-Mac will most likely be worse than Iverson, but just maybe he'll play like in his first game for the Knicks the whole season.
Re: WHAT??? MCGRADY TO DETROIT? My jaw dropped like everyone else on here when i just read that on ESPN.com......but then i got to thinkin.... what if...... Joe had this in mind all along? I can envision T-Mac playin PG as the starter with Will Bynum backing him up for one year and then if T-Mac doesn't show the old T-Mac skills then Bynum takes over the reigns as starting PG next year as the new annointed one by Joe D. The flipside to this picture is that Stuckey has proven himself to be a leader with a hell of a lot of heart who is not afraid to take the ball to the hole.....he could be a very desirable trade piece along with Tay or RIP to grab a desperately needed big man. I can see how this could be a brilliant move. And if it doesn't work and we have an AI falling out year then we will most likely have a better lottery position for next year's draft. I see a win-win scenario. I am scurred though...so scurred *looks around for hugs*. I was all about the AI trade that went sour and don't want to see that happen again but I don't think it could get much worse than last year anyway....we are rock bottom right now in my opinion anyway. I wonder if Big Ben has spoken with Joe D about moving his two best buds to other teams on him... I hope he doesn't lose heart or quit on us if it happens. I kinda got the vibe that a big reason Ben came back was to play with his old buddies anyway.

I remember the rumours about Joe not being keen on letting only youngsters take care of the SF pos. If he has pulled of something like this for a center things look a lot brighter looking from the general standpoint of this forum with less logjam, a much needed big and more minutes for the upncomers. :nerd2:
Re: WHAT??? MCGRADY TO DETROIT? that would be great news. McGrady in Detroit would mean that even JoeD could NEVER start with a roster that includes Tay, RIP, Bynum, Stuckey and BenGo. No way. Mc Grady is still good enough to give solid 15-20mpg in every team in this league. He did good in NY until they gave him too many minutes. But even more than having McGrady on this roster is that this definetely means that there's some trade in the making or will be done in the near future. FInally having something happening is just good news. Let's hope this is not only a rumour. Only one question - how came Detroit needs to talk to Houston? He played for the Knicks last year!?!?
