Gores: "...So Phil, who should we hire?"
    Joe: "Yeah Phil, who?"
Phil Jax: : "(on the phone with Jeanie Buss) [whispers] Jeanie, what do you think of Mo Cheeks?"
Jeanie: "I would't touch him. We're gonna hire your guy B-Shaw after we can Dantoni in early December."
Phil: "Yeah Tom, Cheeks is your guy!"

(For effect: Read Tom Gores' part with Montgomery Burns' from the Simpsons voice; Read Joes' part using Goofy's voice from Disney cartoons; and read Phil's part using the voice of Tommy Chong. ...Jeanie's voice really doesn't matter.)

Cheeks has a lot of work to do:

The more I read Mo's quotes, the less confidence I have. I hope he does a good job despite looking like he doesn't have it all together and I hope my opinion is just colored by some hater articles. Frank was really really together when he spoke about the team or the approach. Frank seems like a guy getting to coach at the highest level because he worked his ass off. Cheeks sounds like he's coasting on his natural ability and experience.

I read that article and all I hear is Cheeks very politely explaining the fact that Joe built a roster full of combo guards who are merely serviceable at either guard spot.

I never looked at it that way. Maybe things are getting better...

If Cheeks is good at developing point guards, we should most definitely try to make a trade for Bledsoe. Clippers must trade him in order to not lose him for nothing (however, I believe they wanna see where CP3 ends up before they decide to deal him).

I would consider it if Clippers added a draft pick.

These guys will be yearning for Lawrence Frank's velvet touch after they're wearing sneakers and Pistons gear for a few days.

Did Frank let them wear other teams stuff so the could imagine they were successful?

Jerebko works out in flip flops and no one has ever said anything to him? Does his team record in the leg up the wall test allow him this kind of leeway?

There might be some grumbling about the no flip flops rule....but I like it. As a coach you have to come in and set the tone.

I had to do that last year, and I'm well short of 50. Not fun.

    I'm confused.
Didn't the team play regular season games in flip flops the last 2 seasons?

No, they added a rule that you get fined $5000 for flip-flopping.

I have been wanting a shot at Bledsoe for a while, but the Clippers aren't silly (for once) and know they have a player lots of teams want despite being a backup. The KG/Rivers deal got canned because the Celts wanted Bledsoe in addition to BK-crusher. We'd be struggling to give them someone they want.

By no means overwhelmed by the hire, but its the hire I've had the most hope for since we hired Flip. Don't think he'll win us a title, but think he can get us back into the conversation.... and maybe he's learned something after taking a few years to step back from the main chair.
