Disappointing hire but not unexpected. The last time this team took a risk they ended up with Darko.

It's interesting that if you read the comments from Sixers fans when Mo got fired, they all thought he got a raw deal.

    "Pistons Get Mo Cheeks"

I've been out in Royal Oak before, I think the Wings would dispute that.

Someone has mentioned it somewhere, but Gores/Dumars duo is starting to feel like Ford/Millen 2.0

Yeah, reading some of those comments feels like deja vu:

I feel like we could've done much worse in our search for a coach. I definitely see him as an upgrade over L.Frank.

But only so much can be said at the moment. We all have to wait and see how it turns out. Although, one thing can be said - Cheeks seems to be a really good human being

At least Moe was the brains of the 3 Stooges! Hopefully, our Mo will be the brains of those 3 coaches!

I couldn't even get through that article. That guy is a tool.
I like his strategy having a pen name that closely resembles the most popular sports writer in America right now.

If I was an actor, I'd grab a stage name with some Google cred like "Brad Pittman", sit back and watch the auditions roll in!

I think this hire is going to work. Out of sheer statistical odds if nothing else. At some point one of these coaches has to work out.

In statistics, this line of thinking is referred to as the Gambler's Fallacy.

Who is this Bill Simmons guy? Is he that dude who needs a PA to check his wardrobe before he goes on TV? Saunders was so into himself that he failed to recognize the franchise player. It wasn't billups.

Its not that no one cares about who the pistons hire as head coach, they just don't want to know your name - like new recruits in band of brothers.

Unfortunately, probability resets on each turn.

Oh how I wish it stacked. I would be a rich man.

He is a Celtics homer through and through. His opinions and articles are sometimes good for comedic value, but nobody respects his knowledge. He has little idea about anything outside what you'd see on ESPN.

As for Bill Simonson, I'll need someone to create a wiki page for him to know more.

No way. Grantland, and in particular, Simmons & Lowe, produce some of the best and most original/insightful articles into the NBA. Annual trade value is one of my favourites.

He is a huge celtics homer, but he at least admits it freely, even to the point of prodding fun at himself.

We'll have to see how it goes with Cheeks. It's possible he was dealt a bad hand. Let's keep in mind, Larry Brown didn't have a ton of playoff success until he got to Detroit.

If this coach stresses defense, teamwork and accountability, we'll be as good as the roster can be.
