Recently I discovered a post at ESPN.com - NBA - Stein: Ranking each East team on its summer moves that was a little less than flattering of the Pistons. The author of this article is Marc Stein, obviously one of those "experts" who really doesn't know anything. He has ranked Detroit 11th out of 15 in the East. The following are the teams that are ahead of us:
    1. Miami Heat
    2. Chicago Bulls
    3. Indiana Pacers
    4. Cleveland Cavilers
    5. Milwaukee Bucks
    6. Toronto Raptors
    7. Boston Celtics
    8. Orlando Magic
    9. Washington Wizards
    10. New York Knicks
It looks as if there's a lot of people out there making it look like Ben Wallace was the whole Detroit Piston's team. He was not. Sure he was the DPOY three times in a row and grabbed some boards, but we still have four All-Stars on the team. I could not make this more clear to people for the life of me.

I wish I could tell Stein in person that he needs to rethink himself when he ranks even the Knicks before the Pistons. There is no way the Detroit will slide from Numero Uno in the whole league record-wise to #11 in the East. Just no way.

I think Stein is ranking the Pistons' offseason as 11th best, not where they will finish.

    I think gaz is right.

My only contention with the article was Cav's should have gotten #1. Keeping Lebron is huge. HUGE

Stein is one of the brightest among the national writers. He consistently gets us right.

I agree with Stein's statement that we got duped into thinking Ben would re-sign, and was quick on the trigger with Nazr. Unfortunately that is how the chips fall and hindsight is 20-20 on knowing that our original target Bonzie would now be available at a lower price and we don't have the money in the bank to get him.:(

This is pretty accurate considering that it's ranking the off-season moves, not the actual ranking of the conference this coming season.

Acquiring Nazr AND Wells would have compensated the loss of Ben easily; I'm not aware of the cap situation, but as far as I know, that wasn't possible since Joe could use that mid- level exception only once; and from the standpoint of losing Ben, it was far more necessary to get a C than a questionable SF- and who knows, maybe Fino finally makes us forget about Wells.

Is it that difficult to read the entire post before writing? Stein wrote about the off- season activities, not the quality of the team itself.

Way to extend a friendly hand, buddy. Why not quote the instigator of this thread who put a great deal more effort in getting it wrong.

:amen: Slippy. Besides not everyone reads back to the original thread starter. Some of us reference the thread title and use the last unread post function. This is a misleading thread title for sure.

bigmaninthepost, this thread starter is your only post and includes a plug for your own Pistons blog!:nono: You started all this trouble. :stirthepot:
TwoTimes, maybe you need to drink a nice cup of chamomile tea. :)

Now, monram99 you keep coming back, ya hear? :welcome: Remember, in proud Pistons tradition "If it ain't rough, it ain't right!"

It's not very long until we'll all be watching the Pistons in chat. Why can't we all get along.:pound:

P.S. Roscoe, this is my audition post for you know what.

I beg everyone's (especially monrams') pardon if that was too rough!
Next time I'll try to write in a more friendly way, especially if referring to newer members...
I tend to forget that this forum is very polite (which is a good thing) :)
Hopefully, there won't be any sanctions :yellowprison:
PS.: You're right, slippy, it was my fault for not quoting the right post- things like that happen if you don't read carefully.

Good post Aurora in calling out bigmaninthepost who you indicate not only promoted his blog, but it shows that he mislead his blog readers too with his slant on the story.:bs:

11th is very generous. I would have ranked our offseason moves a lot lower than that. Maybe we got some sympathy for not having a 1st round pick.
