This has been the worst stretch of years that I can recall. Im sick of his man love for Stuckey, hearing about how dedicated Will Bynum is, ... all the excuses.

And does he even look at defense anymore? How can he keep signing all these defensive liabilities. Thats what puzzles me the most. He used to look at defense as #1 when we were good.

I'm glad Gores is allowing him to bow-out gracefully. He deserves at least that much for what he has done for the organization.

We are all part of history being made. How do you compare Dumars' body of work? What example from another GM should Joe have followed?
95% of GM's find their core talent in the draft. There is a reason for that. That's why Joe was exec of the year for bucking the trend. Its also the reason why he couldn't replicate that feat.

Behind the Lakers and Celtics, there are Michal Jordan's Bulls and Duncan's Spurs, then there are the Pistons, Heat, Warriors and Sixers. The Warriors and Sixers haven't done much since the 80's. Where would the Heat be without the Decision?

All GM's can really do is put their superstars in the best position to win. All this inept flailing about in free agency is to deal with the irritant that there is no star on the roster. Moose is solid but he's not a franchise player in the classic sense. He's a cornerstone. Drummond can become that but he's still a project on the way to stardom.

Has Lee applied for the GM or coaching job yet?

If Lee got the Coaching job for the Pistons, I would actually move back to Detroit and buy season tickets. It would be that good of a show.

I think it would be great if we ALL applied for the GM position. Write up real-looking resumes talking about our fantasy wins, our personal calls (blue: "I totally knew the Pistons should have drafted Giannis, see Pistonsforum.com for details"), our history with basketball ("I coach Gus Macker teams"), and best of all, what we wouldn't do ("I won't draft Darko Milicic-type guys, I won't spend our money on crappy free agents, I won't hire stupid coaches," etc.). I don't think we'd ever hear back or anything, but it's fun to think about.

Holy crap that top 10 list starts off bad. Tony Ronzone @ #10. That's the dude that sold Joe on Darko. Apparently the article author doesn't know that guy already has worked for Detroit.

Also, I fixed the bad links.

    Good stuff KF.
So Darko wasn't his biggest mistake nor was the Billups trade.

I know he's older, but why not give Jack McClonskey another shot at running the team?

Granted, a GM isn't judged by his lateral quickness, but they did have to wheel him to the mid-court for the Bad Boys reunion a couple of weeks ago.

I was really looking forward to his re-introductory press conference when he'd need 4 guys to help him sit down in his chair while he shook uncontrollably and moaned.
