I tried a San Diego kick a couple years ago but couldn't get into it. Guess I'm stuck to being a disgruntled Lions fan :P

The gear is the key guys. Once you buy the gear you are fully committed. Buy the gear and watch a couple of games. Don't watch the Lions. It's kind of like breaking an addiction to smoking.

Just remember...you owe the Lions nothing. Unlike the Pistons, Red Wings, and Tigers, they've given you NOTHING but heartache for your loyalty. Ford just wants your money and gives nothing in return.

    Enjoy the NFL.

Buying a jersey or coffee mug wouldn't cut it for me. I've invested too much time & patience to pick up stakes and let the Lions go.

That investment has been draining your account for a half a century. Why not put your money into something worthwhile?

If they win a playoff game in the next ten years will you really feel good that you stayed with them? Will it be worth it?

I dunno. How did buying a jersey and other stuff make you feel connected to Philly?

Honestly...why does being born in or near a particular city make us feel connected to a particular team?

You gotta start somewhere, I guess. Wearing the team colors makes you feel like ...you belong...like you are a part of it.

You announce that you like a team and people sooner or later start saying bad things about them or your connection with them. You defend the team.

You learn more about them every game. You pick up tidbits about the players and the history of the team.

The Chargers are a great choice. They never won a Suber Bowl but the future is bright. You can still get in on the ground floor.

I can't explain it but I'm still totally pumped abut the choice I made. I forgot how much I loved football. I never realized how much I had been robbed for so many years.

The biggest drawback is the lack of television coverage but do you really get pleasure out of watching the Lions lose as often as they do?

You don't have to live in a city to be a fan of a team any more than you have to go to a college to root for the team.

But when you take the plunge you gotta go 100%. Let the Lions go. :)

I've had dalliances with the Colts, Niners and Giants in the past.

Sunk costs. It's hard to fold a losing hand after a night of gambling. I know.

Probably easier to do after years living in potato land, where you couldn't hit the closest franchise city with a scud :wedgie:

Detroit fans only endure 8-9 televised games...but only cuz the rest are blacked out :tinfoil3:

Sunk costs never justify continuing on a course. Each decision must be based on your expectations for future opportunity.

I think this discussion has taken a pretty interesting course. I had considered starting a thread to deal with this a few weeks ago, but wasn't sure how to go about it.

Is there a very kind moderator out there who could move everything from post #13 forward to a new thread titled "New Found Homes For Displaced Lions Fans."? (Thanks for thread title suggestion BDL).

If you could move it that would be great, if not, that's OK. :)

First you switch teams, now you're trying to steal Dre's thread posts? Have you no decency? Where's your honour? :gun1:

Sorry, but I'll be a Detroit Lions fan as long as there is a Detroit Lions.

Me three. By leaving the Lions, you are cheating yourself out of a huge amount of joy. This is the only team in the league where every win feels like a Super Bowl win. I've had two Super Bowl wins already this year. When Stafford leads us to our next playoff win in 14 more years and you no longer care, don't come crying to me.

    You're great Buck.

I'll say this...I can already guarantee the Lions will not win a Super Bowl in my lifetime...or my second for that matter. I could try for three but I don't feel that lucky. :pound:

When the aliens come, they'll convince Lions fans to visit the mother ship.

Very tough pass too. Low percentage. It basically depended on the defenders having their back to the QB and not reading the receiver's eyes.

But it shows up as a W!

(They'll use Barry Sanders as bait...)
