Those are good until he loses his mojo..............then we'll just go with Lint.......
... or Linbad
I just watched the highlights and I think that of his 13 assists, about 10 of them led directly to dunks. Great passing. Lin Fields Melo Staudemire Chandler All of a sudden, that looks fairly formidable. They are talking about getting JR Smith to come off the bench and to provide them with a deep threat.
I'm not sold on this just yet. 1 - 75% FT is not good enough for a guard. 2 - He still needs to play with Melo 3- 6 games do not make a superstar Having said that, I'm not taking anything away from him. He is a role model sportstar, and seems like a genuine guy. Also, great basketball player, he has good court vision and so far is shooting close to 49%. 25% from the 3 is a worry for me at this point. With Melo back, he will probably be pushed out to the perimeter for most of the time to avoid huge collapses in the box.
Its frustrating to read writers talk about : is he the real deal. Linsanity isn't about that. Linsanity is about that fantasy of coming out of nowhere to lead a bunch of spare parts on an underacheiving team to victory being played out right before our eyes. It doesn't matter if he transcends this cinderella story. He's solidified his relevance as an NBA player.
Actually, Melo needs to learn to play with Lin. ...or any other player for that matter. Lin is tailor made for this D'antoni's system. Melo is tailor made for Melo's system.
Melo and Lin both do well with the pick and roll........... I'm expecting a love connection, plus reduced Lin turnovers when Melo is these.
The Knicks have 5 more home games, so the crowd frenzied hoopla and wins may continue through the all-star break....in fact there is talk of adding him to rookie/soph Rising Stars Challenge game ....based on 7 games?? This is NY.....the question is if Lin was doing the same thing in either Charlotte, Milwaukee or even Detroit, would there be this much hype and hoopla?
Stern said "NO" when asked if he'd add Lin to the All-Star lineups............
Tebow did it in Denver and there was as much or more hoopla- for about the same number of games won in a row. Both guys took their teams back into the playoff race. I see the difference here is that NY's win streak does seem to be directly caused by the addition of Lin. In Denver, it was debatable (Tebow would complete 6 passes in a victory for example). I think that part of the allure of this story is also that Lin is winning while overrated studs like Amare and Melo weren't. That adds to the underdog nature.
I kinda like what Yao Ming says about Jeremy Lin............. "What I see from Jeremy and what I hear in his interviews is he appreciates everything. He pursues his dream. His attitude is so peaceful, but there is strength to him. It is not a violent strength like fire or something aggressive. It is like the ocean, very peaceful, very quiet when you look at it. But you can never underestimate the power that is in there."
Tebow brought in higher powers to help Denver win those games. How much more impactful can you get?
I wouldn't have been satisfied with a statement from Yao that didn't include at least one earth-wind-fire simile. Good showing by the big man.
The ocean is very powerful indeed.
Two more sign references for the phenom.............. “Lin Your Face,” “Linderella,”
Funny sidenote to last night game........ Isaiah Thomas was announced entering the game for the visiting team...... He was greeted with a chorous of Boos by the MSG crowd............go figure....
LOL! I just watched the full game and they booed the poor guy everytime they had the chance. The crowd almost broke my speakers when Thomas was at the line.
I'm just as much a fan of the Bad Boys as the next guy in here, but that is some funny stuff right there.
