Tyreke won't play at 3, he told that to Kings. That, in addition to the $$$ is a big NO-NO in my book.

Even though Josh Smith may not seem to be the perfect fit he is certainly no Charlie or Ben.

I agree, but only when it pertained to Josh Smith. Iguodala, on the other hand, would provide much needed leadership and versatility to the team. Yeah, he's better suited at SG but he's no slouch at the SF position either.

If we came away with Iguodala and a couple role players like Brendan Wright and Paul Millsap, I'd be very happy.

Oh Josh Smith can stroke it from outside.

Straight against the front of the rim...

If you can convince Smith to play properly at the 4 - rebound, bang inside and make transition dunks only, you would have one of the best players in the league. The reason his stats look bad are all the long 2's. They make up like 30% of his shots. Take them away and he is a force, mark my words. That and he is a seriously good defender. Strong enough for the 4 and 5 on switches, and quick enough to guard wings on the perimeter. I can't think of a better fit than Detroit for those talents.

The Pelicans are just daring the Kings to match that offer sheet. Classic!

I don't think the Kings offered him a qualifying offer.

    Two things.

First, Josh Smith is a very good basketball player. Whenever you can sit down with a Free Agent that is better than any one on the roster you do it. Now, he has major flaws, but very few players do. I need to see the contract numbers and subsequent moves before nit picking the guy to death. All I know is Smith, Monroe, Drummond frontline is a formidable one that will be VERY tough to score on and can take those stops / turnovers and convert them into easy buckets. I lived in Atlanta for almost Smiths entire career and can say the guy works hard, cares, and can play. Remember, he was on mediocre teams, but that ownership group and front office were a joke. He played with Joe Johnson, Marvin Williams, Mike Bibby, Zasa Pachulia, etc.. Not exactly Mt. rushmore of NBA players. If he is actually considering coming here for LESS than the max (Joe D's quote, not mine) that is reason to be happy. Of course, it is up to the coach to utilize him. I honestly think that Gordon and CV could have turned out better, bt the situation and coaching staff were dreadful. Hopefully, that is no longer the case.

Second, the Tyreke Evans contract. Large yes, but not that large where Sacto may match. Very interesting number there. In line with Conley, Jennings, etc. Really curious what happens there. That said, one can argue us and the Pelicans are in similiar boats. They are being very active early. Reminds me of the BG and CV off season. At least this time, Joe seems to be taking his time and surveying the landscape. I have to believe the MAN is facing serious job security questions. This is good, as it looks like he is doiing his due diligence. May be he can catch magic in a bottle a la 2003.

Iggy is a SF sometimes playing SG, not the other way around.
