I was just about to post in the Ex-Pistons thread, but if you touched on that topic here it is. Based on Ukrainian news sources, the most likely scenario for Kravtsov is to go back to Ukraine and join Summers on the team they are building for their debut in the Euroleague.

I suppose if your money/contract is guaranteed, there's no point in sitting on the bench for a whole NBA season when you could alternatively go back home and actually play ball.

I'm getting tired of reading articles that allude to "nobody is signing Jason Collins because he's come out of the closet" notion. He's a career end of the bench big man with zero offensive game who is on the wrong side of 30. Nobody is signing him because he sucks as a player.

Do you have a link to one of those stories? I haven't seen any.

I'd be OK starting the year without another big and seeing what I can get out of Chuckles and Mitchell. I really want Mitchell to get some time early. He should be able to play the Rodman/Salley rookie style garbage man from the start.

They do need a 5 who can cover somebody though at least as of now.

I think we are going to need Chuckles. He brings a really good outside threat. I'd give him the first sub, either Monroe or Drummond (prob Drummond). If you have him and Billups on the floor, it will easily be enough to give us space to operate hi-low sets with Smith and Monroe, with Monroe strong side hi post, chuckles cutting baseline through Smith screens on the weakside would give us open 3's all day. Restrict help movement by rotating either jennings or billups to the weakside wing.

Well, I take it back, pass the crow please. I've only been looking at the headlines and they all seem to suggest this viewpoint. But, when I actually read these articles, I realized that most writers actually explain that the reason why he isn't signed is because of what limited value he brings as a player.

My earlier post is yet another example of a trend within the last 8-10 years: It is easy to form strong and angry opinions about things when you don't slow down to comprehend.

I'd be okay with that, too, but he really isn't very good.

Every great team needs a mediocre white 7-foot "defensive specialist" that sits at the end of the bench and only rarely plays. I'm perfectly fine with Collins occupying that role.

Maybe Joe is just sick of seeing all the experts sportswriters bashing his off-season moves and this will be a sure-fire way to get some positive ones. Very smart.

Seems like a distraction with no actual on court benefits to be honest. Maybe Gores is pushing for it (b/c he thinks somebody should do it) or maybe they are just trying to do him a favor by pretending to consider it.

At least we know he can lay the wood on other big men (sent Tim Thomas to the hospital). He'd actually bring back some of the bad boys style if he were to continue his physical play.

Gores is one of those Hollywood types.

I'm kind of surprised at how much disgust and bigotry the basketball fanbase carries toward this. The ESPN comment section on this story is pretty repulsive.

I don't understand why it's such a big deal to some people. I guess I just don't care. People live their life how they want... it's not really my business.
