Has anyone considered the possibility of Kwame opting out of his contract before next Wednesday?
We need him to guard Shaq.
It would be pretty funny if he did.
Memphis has a problem, one second round center starter (42) and a rookie center(2) ,both young players want minutes to develope and detroit need one young big to develope together austin,stuckey,Affalo...dumards must move, there is a chance to make a steal giving Kwame contract and our best player for jaric contract and one of his centers,we delete one year goog pick and center position problems. I like Austin Daye,he need a lot minutes, confidence by coach and muscle but we must let make mistakes our young pistons.
This is Joe's problem. Let him handle things.
I heard Kwame said he is gonna come back.

Based on Sprocket Points Kwame only earned 82% of last season's four mil. If he had played in all 82 games at the same level he would have outperformed last year's salary by $600k. I wonder if he's looking for more money or more years.
He and his agent may be playing hardball since Joe doesn't currently have another center, much less a backup center.
Well, there's no rush. He's waiting on the off chance that someone else will throw some money his way. It's the right strategy.
Or maybe for a longer term. Why not wait and get the most out of this. It's not like he's risking anything at this point. Joe's probably hoping to sign Kwame so that he can trade him.
I'd suspect that's right. Kwame had for him a pretty good year. If he can leverage that into a deal for longer than one more year that would be preferably to hitting the free agent market next year.
if he opts out, we probably upgrade by replacing him with either sheed or dyess.
By upgrade do you mean more $$$?

We would turn into a lottery team...Kwame opting out would heavily impact our team.....We would lose our cable tv contracts..decreased fan base....this franchise would go down the drain
I hope we swap Kwame's expiring contract for Marc Gasol from Memphis.
Kwame does have a good trading record... Traded for Caron Butler in 2005 Traded for Pau Gasol in 2008
