Kirilenko scored 50% from the perimeter and 50% from inside the paint this year for a total eFG of 49%. He had the 2nd highest production differential (his products minus the guy he is guarding) behind BOozer. In only 31 MPG, he averaged: Pts- 9.6 Reb- 5.2 Ast- 2.6 Stl- 0.9 Blk- 2.4 He's only 26 and about to enter those prime years from 27-30. We know Russians love Detroit. It reminds them of home... the climate, etc.
Where did those numbers come from? On ESPN's player profile: 29.3 min 47% 2-pt fg 21% 3-pt fg 8.3 pts 4.7 rbs 2.9 ast 2.06 blks His contract in 2006/2007 - $12.364 mil. I just don't see why he's worth that money. Do we want him to guard LBJ? Can he? Defense would have to be his calling card. His offensive output is similar to Tay's (although Tay is 37% on 3-pointers and averaging 14.3ppg vs 10.3ppg pro-rated at Tay's 36.6 mins), but Tay was under $8 mil for 2006/2007. Assuming Tay would have his minutes cut down to 30, he should be a lot fresher and more effective in the playoffs.
I'm sorry. I gave his playoff averages this year. I don't prefer him to Tay, but think that they would be pretty good out there at the same time. They are both very versatile players and it would create a unique line-up.
In these playoffs he was really inconsistent. He cried because Sloan had to sit him when he struggled. I guess coming here would be a blessing with Flip leaving him on the court for 40 minutes. But I hope Joe will intervene.
AK is sort of a Ben Wallace type player. He impacts the game in ways that don't show up in the stats and he needs to play with a lot of energy. He really did go through a slump at one point in the playoffs, but I like how much he cared. It was really killing him that he couldn't contribute how he wanted to. I'm just a sucker for shot blockers I guess.
This trade will never happen even with Delfino gone. I don't see the Pistons trading for or signing any Euro players in the foreseeable future. We have had too many recent bad experiences with foreign born players to go that route at this point.
The issue isn't foreign born players. It's foreign born players that are not properly scouted and brought to the NBA before there is playing time to develop them. That's my 2 cents/
