Here is the link... Josh Smith agrees to $56 million deal with Pistons - Yahoo! Sports
Whoops! It will be interesting to see what happens next. 14M per year isn't crazy money.
Yea. He is better than BOT and Gordon combined and cheaper. We shall see if it works on the court. At least people can't say we have no ability to sign Free Agents as he was arguably the second best out there. He is a great defender in the prime of his career. Can't complain about that. Spacing, rotations etc. that is to be seen. A lot of roster moves still.
Does this spell the end of Monore? Is a Rondo for Monore deal the next shoe to fall?
This is awesome. I feel like 1,000x better than when I woke up this morning.
So, does he play PF with Monroe at Center. Drummond off the bench? I think that is a killer rotation, takes pressure off Drummond to be the man the whole season and allows us to go BIG by sliding Smith to the 3. Defense is back at least.
wow, hard to believe it's real. It's real right?
I can't say I love this move but I'm excited because our defense just improved. Not sure what happens to Monroe though... I'm hoping he stays.
It's real Susie. We actually signed an All Star caliber player in free agency.
BOY JOE NEEDS TO GO, I MEAN HE CAN'T DO ANYTHING RIGHT..... NO FA WILL SIGN WITH US.... errr wait what? ok maybe I spoke to soon :P
I LOVE these 4 year deals.
Dear Joe in Ann Arbor. Hallowed be thy popcorn. Thy roster come. Your record shall be done In Detroit as it is in Fort Wayne Give us this day a power forward and forgive us BoT as we have also forgiven John Keuster And lead us not into the lottery But deliver us to the playoffs Amen.
Thanks, scoe. Moving forward, I'll try to like this deal
Forget the stats. What I saw of Smith in the playoffs, he can play small forward. His shot seems to have improved considerably. Maybe this is finally the death of small ball round these parts. A rotation: Knight, Ken, Smith, Monroe, Drummond. 2nd unit: Stuckey, English, Middleton, (Mitchel or Smith sliding over to power forward), (one of Drummond or Monroe playing center with the 2nd unit.) Both Stuckey and Knight should accept a role where they each play 24 minutes of point - and not a second otherwise.
My dear friend, I haven't been so excited in ages. This guy can actually play basketball. No unrealized potential. No bloodflow issues. No foreign cultural problems. No underdeveloped body. This is a bonafide NBA starter and arguably a top 10 player at his position with a 6 or 7 9 year track record and he is in his prime at 28 years old.
I'm excited too. Hi Lee! Now all I need to come on here and read is Sheed is signed and back where he belongs and should have never left in the first place...
The more I think about this, the more that I'm starting to like it. We're gonna play ugly/physical basketball with J. Smith in the lineup. I'm thinking Bad Boys style basketball. We might not put up a lot of points but we also aren't going to allow other teams to put up much either.
Fine with me, I love ugly Pistons wins....
I dunno why people want to press J-Smoove at SF. He can start from PF with Monroe at C. Drummond - somebody has to play 2nd unit minutes too and better Drummond than Kravtsov. 2nd unit is pretty weak anyway - lots of ? marks and rookies...
