I apologize if this has been discussed before, but I really couldn't be bothered to find out... What is your (Detroit Pistons fans) opinion on Jose Calderon? If you feel he would be a significant upgrade over Rodney Stuckey, what would you be willing to give up to acquire him? It's been well-documented that Calderon is being shopped around the league, and I think it's fair to say Colangelo has committed to Jarrett Jack as the starting PG. Unless Jose is willing to take 20 MPG off the bench, I (and most fans) just don't see him as a Raptor next year.
He's NOT only not a significate upgrade over Stuckey, he's a significant downgrade over him. Calderon has proven to be a journeyman player - and a guy who plays no defense.
He's not going to find minutes in Detroit, unless he can block shots and rebound. The team has also put a lot of stock into developing Stuckey and Bynum, I can't see them just getting anyone to come in and replace them.
I like Calderon but he wouldn't fit here. He's not really an upgrade over Stuckey...he brings a different skill set but costs like 3x more.
With Ben Gordon as our 2-Guard (if Joe ever decides to part ways with Rip) it's difficult funding a backcourt mate to complement his game. Gordon and Calderon together...........uhhhhhh NO! But I do like Jose's game....ALOT!
A Point Guard with no defense and who lose his SPOT Against Jarret Jack!! That's not rebuilding for me.
I wouldn't mind seeing him in Detroit, he is definately a better passer than Stuckey, although Stuckey plays better D and has the better contract.
Last year Stuck scored 6 more ppg, grabbed 1.7 more rpg, stole the ball twice as much as Jose and only dished out 1.1 apg less. He is bigger and is a better defender than Calderon. Oh, and he's 5 years younger. IMO, Stuckey is a much better player than Jose.
trading calderon is reasonable option for toronto but partners - Pistons definitely is dead last in the queue. Unless of course, dumars trades away Stuckey and Iron Will and needs a replacement...

I thought Frank's vocabulary was amazing when I first read that... like he was blending in a French word. But then I realized it is his version of Strategery. On the thread, I figured that we'd need a solo thread for Calderon and found that we already had one created. I didn't think Rapsfan would mind if I commandeered it.
