Was anyone else just on the Dumars' conference call? I got an invite through some Palace emailing list or the other. Basically just ticket holders and fans asking him questions about the team. Couple of notes...

    - PG position is changing in the league (center too) with running the offense coming increasingly from other positions - so, even though Stuckey might not be a true point, the team is sticking with him and not looking or a change in philosophy there.

    - AI is "most likely" gone (yeah, right Joe), but the Rasheed situation is still fluid. But, he would definitely like to get Dyess back.

    - With the veteran core there hasn't been an opportunity for rookies to get much time the past half dozen seasons, but look for that to change.

    - Looking for 1 or 2 front court players via free agency or trade this off season.

    - A team fits its style of play to the players not the other way around.

    - Like Bosh, likes the way he plays.

    - When asked to talk about recent changes in the coaching staff, he said he couldn't because the situation was still fluid. I took that to mean that there could be other changes.

So, nothing really new, but fun to hear him talk.

More of the same "Joe speak". He's been saying that youngsters are going to play for a while. Lets see if this time he follows through on his words this time.

Thanks, dba. Did someone ask him flat-out if he would ever consider hiring Laimbs?

Not that I heard. His answer about coaching was oddly vague though.

    Thanks for the notes dba.

Who was asking the questions or better yet what type of format was it?..ie, was this a live Q & A for the local media or were the questions presented to him prior to the call and he was just trying to provide some feedback and framework on how they are going to approach the FA sweepstakes?

I guess we know what fluid means now. Takes a pretty cool customer to sit in front of a bunch of fans and dodge coaching questions knowing the press release was about to hit the wire.

So when he also describe Rasheed's situation as fluid...

LAD - I'm not sure how you got on the docket to ask a question. I didn't see that in the invite I got. At one point Eli said you could press * something to ask a question but they were out of time by the time I got through. It sounded like there had been some kind of ticket holder tour of the practice facility beforehand and those folks might have been there live.

This is Joe for you. I don't like that about him, reminds me of a slick salesman.
Or maybe he was pondering firing Curry and once fans started asking that kind of pushed him over the edge? LOL

Joe's not supposed to be honest. It's not his job to be a nice guy, or to show all of his cards.

What I don't like, is how insincere he can appear when talking about failure. But if any of us was in the same job, we would be spinning the same BS, because otherwise, our career would be over before it started.

I think I mean something different. If he promises something he should follow through, at least to a certain extent. Otherwise it will turn into the old story about the baby goat who always called his parents as if being attacked by a wolf. And then it got stale and when the wolf actually did come, nobody came to help because they thought he's still playing around.
But that's just my flawed opinion.

I would disagree with this. Being dishonest is wrong. You don't have to be wrong in order to be right. What needs to take place in this news 24/7 world we live in is if you don't want to divulge information, simply decline comment. It takes some backbone to not show your hand but you don't have to lie to be the best. Honesty. It's such a lonely word. Everyone is so untrue. As Billy would sing. Cheating.

So you are saying it is ok to cheat and lie in business and sports?

I guess he'd be a good politician. But then we'd be paying his salary, so we'd be even more pissed. That's just what people do.
