I hate to ask this cause everyone seems to think that getting rid of Max is easy and will happen, but would anybody want him. I mean he is an OK guy that can play 15 to 20 a night, but at 5 mil a year for another 4 years seems a little ridiculous for a guy with his limitations and with the cap like likely coming down.

I posted this in another thread, but I like the idea of swapping Maxiell with Diop from Bobcats. The salaries match. Bobcats already have two more centers in Okafor and Nazr but no real PF to backup Boris Diaw. It would be a minor upgrade for both teams.

Assuming Max is not movable as part of something bigger, this sounds like a pretty good idea to me.

Excellent question. Well Max only has 3 guaranteed years, the 4th is a team option, I'm really hoping he's moved, but it doesn't look like a reality, if the Rooks are for real Max will be at the end of the bench looking very disgusted, that extension is really biting us in the U-No-What! But nobody complained then (when he signed it) so don't complain now.

On a more positive note, maybe he comes in, feels the heat and takes his game up to another level.

When he signed the extension, the cap was a bit different and expectations were that he'd be a regular contributor. He's still having ups and downs. Actually, if he could consistently produce and get better on the defensive boards, he'd be well worth the contract.

It might be wrong but Hoopshype has the 4th year as a player option, and unless he breaks out and becomes the stud we want him to be, I think he'll exercise it, even if he is getting no PT.

I don't know the details of Diop's contract, but salaries seem similar and the length (3 years) is same as Maxiell's. It really wouldn't be much of an upgrade for us, and won't even get us cap space. Solely a move to add Maxiell another 6".

    True indeed.

Diop has 4 years and $27M left on his deal. I'd take Nazr for Max before I do a Diop for Max deal, Naz-Mo will get you a double-double and shock you every now and then.
