The Pacers are giving a point in this one according to The Tropicana Sports Book. I bet they're seeing a ton of action on this game.

The Pistons games are going to seem uplifting and transcendent after seeing the folks hanging out in the casino tonight. It is depressing here. It isn't often I'm in a room feeling good about myself.

    Piston's at home where they're 5-6. They're also 5-6 in the conference.
Indiana is hovering above .500 so far this season.
With Grainger out........George and George are helping to make up the slack.
I'll predict that one of the Georges gets hot in the 4th.

I watched a Bobcats game to see how the swede Jeff Taylor was doing and noticed their oldest starter is 22. I'm not saying Charlotte is the organization to mimic but they do have a better record than the Pistons. And our 1st round pick.

Watching Bobcats and Pistons games is really picking the raisins out of the NBA.

Top 14 protected though I believe. So, they have no chance of getting our pick next year.

Hey guys. Let me know when Frank manages to break down and start Andre Drummond this season. Until that happens I will be watching Ricky Rubio and the Twolves each night. This is his first night back playing and so far my jaw has dropped 7 times in just a few minutes of him playing with his passes and defense and lob passes.....just awesome and so much fun to watch. Sigh...I remember how much fun our team was to watch a few years ago.

Well the Pistons played it tight through three quarters, but the Pacer defense kicked in and the Pacers ran off a 19-6 run to stretch a 63-62 lead to a 82-68 lead during a 7 minute stretch where Tyler Hansborough of all people seem to dominate on both ends. The Pistons looked great in the 3rd qtr with Dre the catalyst on both ends. The coach even had both Monroe and Drummond out there at the same time for awhile and it kept the game close with the Pistons winning the qtr by 1.

The Pistons were down three at the end of three and got it down to one, but with Max and Magette out there missing everything they threw up and Hansborough out hustling everyone, the game was lost midway through the 4th qtr. The coach finally came to his senses and took Max out and brought Dre back in to play with Moose, but neither of them could stop David West as he scored at two buckets with both of them standing right under the hoop.

So although they lost the game, Dre proved that he is ready to start so that Max can be regulated to the second unit. 11 pts 9 boards, 3 blocks, compared to Max no points, 3 boards and no blocks...2 steals..

...at least the Wolverines were winning on ESPN to go 11-0...and in Brooklyn where the Pistons lost the night before...

Max's hot streak seems to be well and truly over.

Andre the last two games: 19 points, 18 rebounds, 6 blocks.

    Max: 13 points, 5 boards, 0 blocks.

Time for a change? I think so.

Some progress. Monroe and Drummond were played together. However, the coach ensured this unit would only be so successful, as he took out Singler, a shooter to space the floor, and replaced him with Stuckey, who is no shooting guard. This failed backcourt was also put in place in crunch time to ensure there was no chance the Pistons could win the game. Look at the film. Where are all the Pacers standing? All five packed under the basket so close they could hear each other's eye blinks.

The coach simply needs to be replaced. Unless Dumars has ordered him to lose every game. In which case, Dumars has to go. Unless the owner ordered us to tank the season, in which case he should sell to someone who wants wins from the Pistons.

    Who should have played tonight:

Start Knight, English, Singler, Monroe, Drummond. (40 minutes)

2nd unit: Stuckey, Middleton, JJ, JMAX, Kravtsov (8 minutes)

That was my kind of basketball tonight (except for the outcome). Indiana is tough on D for sure and held us in the 70's without Hibbert for most of the game. We can easily get to their defensive level in the next couple years with Dre anchoring it. Tonight, there was a ton of effort for rebs, loose balls, and position... we just got out shot.

    Some key stats:
    - We only let IND get 5 offensive rebounds on 37 missed shots. That is some strong boxing out and help rebounding by Singler, Knight, and Stuckey with 14 combined rebs.
    - We were solid with the ball and only had 10 turnovers against one of the best defensive teams in the league (felt like about 10 in a row during that 15-0 run though).
    - We drew 21 fouls and only fouled them 16 times. We played pretty solid D for the 30 min with Drum on the floor. I'd like to see the pts/min with him in vs out tonight, but don't feel like teasing that out.
    - Stuckey has his mini Lebron impersonation going for a quarter or so.
    - We held IND to 29% from behind the arc... on 24 attempts!

    Negatives
    - They out blocked us 9-4 with limited Hibbert. Moose and Knight each got blocked 3 times.
    - We were out shot eFG wise .535 to .404. I'd like to blame our 3-point shooting, but their's was just as bad. They just got more easy buckets and David West was 11-16 from inside the arc. He was a bad match-up for Drummond, who for some reason was pretty much stuck guarding him. Too quick on the step back.
    - Roy Hibbert blocked us 4 times in only 15 minutes. Glad I didn't have to witness a triple double with blocks included for him tonight. He's a great foundation for them... too bad for IND he's 7 years older than Drummond! I'll take ours. Still, expect some battles for a while against this guy.
    - Maggette and Chuckles came out firing tonight. 1-7 for Machette and 1-4 from Charlie. While it felt like Drummond was controlling the game, keep in mind that he was doing it with the old ball and chains in there too.
    - Singler just had his 7th straight game with single digit scoring. Please find me another starting SG in the NBA that you can say that about. He's averaging 9.9 as a starter as far as I can tell.

On a totally separate subject, I just realized that since Bynum said this:
... he hasn't had to do much adjusting to anybody.

    Sort of funny.

The Drummond show! The best part of it was when he hoisted Hansborough into the stands. I also liked the life lesson he was taught in the 4th - Dre was singlehandedly keeping the Pistons in the game when West blew by him once and Larry instantly pulled him, put Max out there who handed the Pacers 5-6 points and killed the game and then subbed in Dre for him to play the garbage time.

I'm just enjoying watching #1 play. He was incredibly active defensively. Sure he got schooled by West but he is so talented and he's learning quickly. Singler is really fading fast. He shouldn't be starting.

Singler should file a formal request for English to start over him.

Btw, when was the last time a non-Piston starter requested to come off the bench? I can't remember anyone.

    The year was 1958.............
Earl Lloyd was shooting 35% for the season and Shellie McMillan suggested to coach Red Rocha that he start the remainder of the games.
George Yardly was seen laughing loudly after the question was posed.

I think for Singlers sake he needs to go back to the bench, he's lost the spark he was providing... be it there is tape on him now for teams to know how to deal with him or another reason. The problem is, I'm not sure who you put in his spot... by process of elimination I guess you give a shot to English, and no I don't think he's the answer to all the problems we have. Stuckey with our current lineup is better off the bench IMO.

From a team balance, having Singler in the 2nd unit instead of Maggette might help there too.

I think that move in the starting lineup would help the team more then throwing Drummond into the starting lineup. Saying that.... Drummond is making it harder by the game (if we forget his Phili doughnut of a game last wed) to keep him out of the starting lineup. If we start Drummon and Monroe together at this point I am not to confident in our 2nd team big men... CV and Max as our big men.... shiver. I do think Drummonds mins are justified to be expanded to closer to 30 then 20 though.

I do agree though with something Roscoe said awhile back about Monroe's body language, the coaches and front office should know better then us though... but if he's sulking or fighting the idea of moving to the 4 he needs to be sent packing while his value is high. I hope its just him going thru a stage of growth, and like each other time he's hit a wall he figures it out and smashes it down.

I really think we have 4/5 starters for a solid team right now. Singler at the 3 I think is our future Prince... just need to find that shooting guard that makes everything click. I think folks sometimes don't realize how much one player can change the look of a team. We plug a great SG into the starting lineup and I honestly think were on our way to respectabilty.
