I'm about a cinical as they come but I firmly believe that it's as bad as it's gonna get right now. Things WILL be different next year. At the beginning of next season, we are going to have three brand new starters. Only Monroe and Knight will be returning from the starting five this season: C - Drum PF - Money SF - lotto pick or free agent SG - lotto pick or free agent PG - Jose (if re-signed) or BK7 - That lost first rounder will be an insignificant pick in the teens or low 20s. Those picks and/or players of that calibur are easy to come by. Thank god for the fact that the Charlotte Bobcraps will be paying Ben Gordon $14 mil next year and not us. - If the Pistons want to, there's still time to convince Greg Monroe that staying in Detroit for the long haul is worth doing. If not, he's a very tradeable piece. - The pressure's on Joe to either make the playoffs next season or be fired. I like that his back is against the wall. Joe now has to move past his loyalty to former Piston players factoring into his decision making process when it comes to the roster. Every move he makes has to be effective if he wants to keep his job. He's spent all of that '04 championship collateral that he had. His back is against the wall. With Drummond and Brandon Knight out, that's 2 of the 5 players that should be starting. That's essentially 40% of an already bad starting lineup that the Pistons are without.
