Wings deny report Jiri Hudler got contract Ted Kulfan / The Detroit News "The Red Wings said there was no truth to a report Friday out of Canada that said an NHL arbitrator had awarded forward Jiri Hudler a two-year contract worth $2.5 million per season. Canadian sports network Sportsnet.ca, citing unidentified sources, said Hudler had been awarded $2.5 million per season, which seems low, considering Hudler reportedly was asking for $4 million per season and the Wings had been offering about $3 million. Hudler and the Wings are in arbitration to determine a salary if, or when, Hudler returns to the NHL. Hudler has signed a two-year contract worth $10 million, most of it tax-free, with Moscow Dynamo in the Kontinental Hockey League." Hudler not rejoining Wings Holland confirms forward will play in Russian league Dave Waddell, The Windsor Star "It's not true," Holland said. "We're moving on. "They're (Sportsnet) just making up crap. How can they come up with this stuff? "Deal in the facts. They're misleading the public. "Every conversation I've had with (Hudler's agent) Petr Svoboda he's told me he was playing in Russia. Hudler has publicly announced he's playing in Russia, so let's use some common sense. "(Svoboda) told me Hudler is coming back after two years. If he doesn't like it, he'll come back after one." Thursday, the KHL registered the two-year contract worth US$10 million, which will be tax free, that Hudler signed with Moscow Dynamo in early July. "It turns out to be a good thing for us that he chose to go to arbitration," Holland said. "If he hadn't and he comes back in a couple years when he's 27, he'd be an unrestricted free agent. "It allows us to keep his rights if and when he chooses to come back." Hudler not rejoining Wings
