OK we passed on Burke, CJ and MCW which means Joe still believes that Brandon Knight is capable of being the franchise PG. We drafted a 6'6" SG, a 6'9" Combo Forward who is an athletic freak, and a short PG to replace Will Bynum. Dumars keeps stressing: Athletic Wings. So how should we now spend the $19M in cap space we have? Keep in mind amnestying CV is not an option.

I say offer Iggy $13-$15M/yr for 4 years.
Cut Stuckey and free up another $4M.
Go after Chauncey first, 2 years/$15M.
If Chauncey says, no; try and re-sign Calderon: 4 years/$25M

If we can't get Iggy, sign Calderon and save the rest of the money for trade flexibilty or free agency next summer.

I'd take Calderon over Billups. Chauncey can't get healthy anymore.

Chauncey? Seriously? I love the dude, but he's finished.

Never really thought of you as the homer type.

Just like you said, I think Iguodala will be our #1 target. And why not? He's TOP NOTCH defensively, and his only weakness is his jump shot. And really, it's not like he's a horrible shooter. He's shooting about league average from 3. However, just like you stated, it's gonna take a lot to drag him away from Denver. There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do.... Money on the other hand... :)

The question is who will want to take our money? Not exactly a prime destination. :deadhorse:
Also, most likely Joe will not cut Stuckey lose, that's just now how he operates.

If the money is right, I think Detroit can attract some big names. Look at Ben Gordon and Charlie Villenueva. Never mind.

If Joe signs all 3 rookies for next season, we will have 13 players on contract. Isn't 15 the max allowed?

That's without Calderon, Maxiell, Bynum and Maggette

All 4 of those guys may be gone. With any luck, Stuckey is gone, too. I'd like to see BoT gone, but I'm afraid that won't happen.

It's not about him playing, he has enough in the tank to pass the torch to Brandon Knight. If Joe is going all in on Brandon......then let's go ALL IN and get him the help he needs. Chauncey can help Mo teach BK and, give us a good 15-25 mpg and, he's a solid perimeter threat who's also a great leader. We need VETS! Our top players all have less than 4 years experience, we need Chauncey even if it's to play a Corey Maggette type role.

Calderon could be the same type of mentor as Billups, but Calderon can actually still play!!

He can.......but it's not the same, I believe Chauncey's legacy as a Piston allows for greater mentorship.

People are skeptical that Joe will amnesty CV, but if he doesn't use it now, then when? That's my question. CV and Stuckey have proven themselves quite expendable.

Half the teams have already used theirs.

Wouldn't that be something? Chauncey and Sheed back home where they belong....

As long as they are both coaching, I'd love it.

Since CV only has one year left on his contract, this is the LAST chance for Joe D to use the amnesty.

I don't see why you wouldn't use it.

We would, but we're not Joe. We'll see if he does something different this time, you know the entire insanity concept.

It's hard to picture spending the $$ when the roster is so muddled.

It's also hard to add guys when the group they already have hasn't really played together.

What a wasted year last season was. That's on Joe.

If they're already at 13 or 12 at least I'm waiting to bargain shop in FA and holding the cap space for trades.

It's more Gores' decision on the amnesty I would think since it would imply that he'll spend way more money next year.

I think cutting Stuckey should be a no-brainier since it actually saves money.

Or he didn't believe any of those players where capable of being the franchise PG.

Not sure if this is a typo, joke or if you are back on the bottle. If he signs somewhere it will be alot closer to the veterans minimum than $7.5M/year. Joe should be fired immediatly if he spends $15M on a washed up player to mentor a player that likely never will reach the levels of an average starting PG.
