I guess it makes total sense for Joe to wait till Saturday, when the buy-out deadline passes. They only reason why he wouldn't do this would be if he was afraid DD would sign with another team. That doesn't seem to be in the cards right now. Just a technical question, and I don't think that it is happening here. But under the CBA rules and all that, would Joe be allowed to pay DD right now to sit and wait? What if he said, "Dale, we'll probably hire you, but we want to see if someone better comes along. We're going to pay you $100,000 to just wait in the wings."
Maybe it's Sam Cassell? he has a big head?? But seriously folks, Boston grabbing PJ Brown has probably got Joe second guessing about Davis's abilities. PJ burned us in Chicago last year because our guys refuse to go out check his short range jumper. Did you read that Paul Pierce and Ray Allen actually talked PJ into coming back to play with the C's while they were down there in Nawlings for the All-star game? They are serious about this... who did our guys talk too? Celtics add big man for stretch
Probably Oliver Miller or Stanley Roberts. With our FA luck, Joe will be working on convincing Alonzo Mourning to bring his destroyed knee to Motown.
But, he's NOT a better help defender than Ratliff and Theo is younger. At the end of the day that's what this team needs more. DET's problem isn't getting sent home by teams that constantly post them up. It's A) relying too heavily on the jump shot and B) getting embarrassed when teams dribble penetrate them to death and they fail to stop the drives and/or rotate help D properly.
Was he in shape or just hangin out? and where is his cousin Antonio Davis? they are the same age. [39} Oops, Bill Davison wouldn't want to sign him, as he goes into his stands to protech his wife from hecklers......
No, I don't blame it on him. It was just to make the point. I think Davis' lack of mobility doesn't allow him to be sufficient rotational help.
He was incredibly ripped. Some of the players mentioned that he looked 10 years younger. Also, he has developed quite a 3-point shot after working with a private shooting instructor. The only downside is that he is demanding to play the 2-spot.
It appears that Antoine Walker is the most likely guy to be bought out by Minnesota - no indications that they're talking to Theo Ratliff about a buyout.
Well, we could certainly find a use for a proven champion who's a more accomplished 3 point shooter than Chauncey. And another Kentucky Wildcat defender, too. He can play the backup 3 as well as center, because there are no minutes for 4s.
Fatoine Chucker would be an awesome addition... by subtraction... to his current team. 36% FG% and 53% from line? Nasty. Chauncey has attempted 1,060 less three pointers and he is only behind by about 100 in the makes category. That's funny. Walker would have to make about 450 in a row to raise his average to CB's.
