Here's a chat from John Hammonds... has some interesting inside stuff on the roster & TC. Hammond's chat
Not if you go to the Pistons website. http://www.nba.com/pistons/chat_mailbox/hammondchat_051006.html
Good interview I thought he was pretty straightforward. I know he didn't say it in so many words but it looks like Dupree is bye bye. Darko will get some time but it's still gonna be a while, if ever, with him. They sure love Lindsay though. (Sorry, Mr. Lee...no retirement parties planned yet). I was a little surprised he mentioned Delfino. Showcasing or is he gonna stick?
delfino is going to stick. he's got game and probably will flourish in flips offense and defense. i'm sad about dupree he was a player that i liked. hopefully he will catch on with another team because he's better than what he showed last year. he's more than just a great athlete.
Foreign Line His mention of the Arroyo, Delfino, Evans, Dice, and Darko line made me realize that we'll have 4 countries out there at once. And 3 white guys. I was surprised that he didn't put JMax in that group.
1 white guy and a whole lot of game by my count. he did say that this year there wouldn't be much playing time for the rooks. so maybe that's why jmax isn't in that lineup.
Dupree Clearly, he's done with the Pistons. That sucks. If Delfino doesn't produce, I'll be the first to criticize the organization.
I'll be right there with you...Sup/Dup hasn't done anything wrong. Hammond did say "as of Oct 6th" this is our thinking....in two weeks anything can happen. Delfino better produce (on "D" too)!
my thoughts Its going to be a tough decision either way. CD has a higher upside than Dupree, but atleast Dupree is a proven commodity. You know what you're going to get with him. Delfino is still a big question mark, but if I had to choose, I'd go with Delfino. Mo Evans gives us that luxury to take a chance on CD. If it works, we have a Manu type player, if it doesn't, we can fall back on Evans. I'd like to see AJ go to the D league for a season. I think that at this point in his career, he'd be better off playing big minutes down there, rather than riding the pine for the big club. He's still very young. Next season he can get some experience with the big boys. Maxiel is old enough and mature enough that he would do well to learn from guys like Roscoe, Ben, and Dale while watching from the bench. I think that because of Hunter's injury, Acker will make the team.
Quick hijack note: (not worthy of own thread) Vlade Divac was released by the Lakers... I think Joe should do whatever necessary to bring him here to coach Darko. One of Joe's "for the best of the team" moves. Darko could excel with Vlade's NBA/Euro game knowledge.
Good suggestion. I doubt He'd leave California for Michigan though. He has no connections here to my knowledge and he doesn't look like the skiing type.
^^^I'd say no to Divacs. Darko's had two years now. He's been brought up the Pistons way, not the Kings' way. At Eurobasket it began to show in a style of play not quite like that of his countrymen or the Serbian system. Why give him another European crutch? Let him go forward. If a big man mentor is needed, Clifford Ray's available to build up Darko's weaknesses.
I say no to everything you say.lol Divac knows more about real game situations and actually playing the position than Igor. nuff said
I see Merc and Lanier Fan's points. I think they are both valid, but of course my idea is better because I am just that cool. Arvydas Sabonis, who is on speaking terms with Sheed. Don't diss the Sabonis. At 400 years old, he's still kicking butt in foreign leagues on knees so bad that he be on walking sticks. The guy is a living legend, one of the most efficient players ever, and a true professional.
Alirght, I can buy that... just not sure what lil Igor is doin' from a big man perspective. Sabonis was indeed the man.
Pete Newell's Big Man's Camp Does anyone know if that is still around and when during the year they have it? Seems like that would be good for Darko's development if it fits in schedule wise.
