The bad news first, the chances of getting Carlos Boozer have become slimmer due to a rumer that he and the Boozer camp are asking for a 5 year 80 million dollar contract.

The good news is the Pistons are pusuing Milsap and Okur, the sixth best 3 pt. shooter, has opted out of his contract.

Imho chances getting slimmer to acquire Boozer are the best news for a long time.

Not sure that the odds of Boozer decreasing is a bad thing.

Okur is interesting. If he opts out, he's walking away from $9mm, up from $8.5mm this season. His Sprocket Points adjusted salary for last season was $9.1mm and could have been $10.4 if he hadn't missed ten games. As with many of these guys, the question is whether he's looking for a lot more money (probably won't get it) or a longer term. In this economic climate more years must look like a pretty good thing.

    Does 17 & 8 command much more than $10mm? I don't think so.

The Pistons will need years of rehab if they get Boozer.

the best thing about carlos boozer is that if he were to wear an eyepatch he'd look like a very authentic pirate.

(definitely not worth all that cash)

Go after Okur. He has more character, and he is a center.

Great, we could potentially grab less talented versions of Carlos Boozer and Rasheed Wallace. [SARCASM]Someone please help me contain my excitement.[/SARCASM]:ohwell:

Agreed... I was never on the boozer bandwagon in the first place... If possible I'd like to swoop up 2 solid big men with the money we have available. May sound like wishful thinking but I'd like to snag Charlie V from the bucks (word on the street he's only looking for $7-8 mill per year) and steal Millsap or Memo back from Utah. I know I'm asking a lot but a Pistons fan is allowed to dream a little bit after the woeful season we just had, right!?!

something like that wouldnt totally be impossible but having Charlie V and Memo in the front court is not a great idea...neither are a defensive presence nor are they a very good rebounder. I think signing Memo and Gordon would do more for us as it would open up the option of trading a package of Rip and Tay for Bosh. This should also leave enough room to sign someone like Trevor Ariza. If Joe D wants him team to be more athletic and versatile this would be a good lineup...

    Memo
    Bosh
    Ariza
    Gordon
    Stuckey

There isn't one team in the NBA that is going to pay Boozer that much money. Remember when Marion was asking for upward of 16 million per?

Now he'll be lucky to get 9.

    Remember Ben Gordon's ridiculous demands?

More like Bob Sugar. You obviously didn't read the "mission statement".

I'm not sure the news can get any gooder than what we have heard today (Curry firing).

I think you couldn't be wronger. It could get even gooder if B.L. is announced as the new chief. I would think they will move quicklier on hiring a coach than you think because it could affect player signings. Nothing is worser than not knowing what coach you is going to play for.

I'm not so sure Laimbeer is the bestest coach right now. Don't we need someone more experienceder like VanGundy, Collins, or Jackson?
