The key to tanking is to appear to play hard but still lose, so as not to raise suspicions. Reminds me of Tom Cruise "losing" to "Fast" Eddie Felson at the end of "The Color of Money." With 18 games to go, the fight to the bottom is on!

Shaq was a bully and a genuine Alpha-male. None of this cute Penguin stuff. Shaq was going to eat your babies and their mother and not apologize for any of it.

I forget sometimes that Dre is only 20-something.

Some people get mad when I suggest tanking. The players should NEVER tank. They should always try their best to win every single game. It's up to the GM/coach to do the tanking. You start giving guys like Joel Anthony, Dinwiddie, and Quincy Miller extra minutes and say we are developing for the future. The current starters with a high WS rating have their minutes slightly reduced.

Stan needs to see how Prince and Butler work together.
I'm thinking a 10-game stretch of these guys logging 25 minutes as a tandom would be great for the Pistons' "future".

Coach continues to coach to lose. Not for a second did he have an NBA capable squad on the floor for this game. Old man Prince did not start this one, but he played way too long stretches anyway and worse, played at power forward also. Old man Butler started at small forward. Just as bad. Martin did get to play, but only with Prince totally ruining things by playing power forward beside him. And although not quite as horrid, too short Pope was pressed into more fruitless action at small forward.

Drums and Monroe were just outstanding. Our guard play was fine.

Despite how fantastic Drums and Monroe are, playing the likes of old men such as Prince and Butler, plus a strong dose of too short Pope as part of our front line, makes our front line in all just mediocre.

The games are still entertaining to watch, but it is very frustrating to watch a coach give no effort at all toward wins.

I totally agree. There is a clear agenda against winning. It looks like GM VanGundy is hoping for high draft picks and has shifted into tank mode. Of course, it was completely obvious that he had given up on having a good NBA team when he traded away Buckets and GiGi for nothing.

The worst part is that the coach seems to have no pride, and is willingly going along with GM VanGundy's plan.

I haven't seen Shaq in his younger years, mostly watched him as a Laker. He was unstoppable. And he was HUGE. He clogged the paint all by himself on D.

I remember young Howard struggling offensively. SVG really made him who he is today. In the hands of say, someone like Maurice Cheeks, he would've been an early iteration of DeAndre Jordan.

Agree with the Jedimaster. Drums seems about the same as Howard, and Shaq light years ahead of both.

Shaq's killer instinct ahead of both. You look at Howard and the guy doesn't always seem like he wants to play. That's why Kobe disliked him. Where's the passion? Not a Kobe fan, but the guy has the passion to win.

Shaq wanted to annihilate you as a defender. Get outta my way!

I should have said Shaq was an offensive force with a killer instinct. Dudley Did Wrong.

Interesting to think Drummond has never played an extended period of time without Monroe.

Might be fun to see Jackson pick and roll the majority of the game with Drummond unimpeded by Monroe. Surrounded only by three shooters to kick it out to at any time.

That is the most realistic model for next season. Svg is verbally committing to jackson and everybody thinks Monroe is gone. RJ, Dre, KCP, and van gundy is a pretty nucleus I hope. Has two way play potential. Just need to add a star SF and a stretch 4 (who can probably be the weakest link and still add value by just creating spacing for dre and RJ).

    I like that we're young.

He must be secretly Taynking for the that top 5 pick....h'se smarter than we think.

Joe may have wanted last 2 years teams to Taynk, but the coach didn't get it. Now SVG can control the situation and a taynking we will go!

Like Oldschool said on the Facebook PF page.....you get 17 offensive rebounds, and only 22 points? Shaq may have converted them into putbacks to the tune of 30 points?

Dre is still learning, so I ain't mad at him...

....and yeah we gave up dunks to everyone from Draymond to Iggy to Klay to Livingston to Barbosa and even Bogut got a running slam dunk... The lane was open for the free chilli dunkfest and the Warriors took advantage of it.

Every center comes up short when you compare to prime Shaq.
