Monroe was one of the all star snubs and the top Olympic Team snub. Maybe he's getting used to it and Joe should snub him to a below market contract.

Wolves just spent a 1st round pick to get rid of a guy they drafted top 5 three years ago so they could sign an injury-prone Kirilenko to a $20M/2y contract. If they start Ridnour at the 2 like last year they could actually make the playoffs with an all-white starting 5: Rubio - Ridnour - AK47 - Love - Pek. It's got to be a while since that happened.

T'wolves near $20 million deal with Andrei Kirilenko - Yahoo! Sports

I wonder what it's like for Brook and Robin at family gatherings considering Robin makes a third of his brother's salary.

I doubt Robin can afford to make it home very often on a measly $5 million per year.

Most NBA players have siblings who aren't in the NBA, so their dynamic is tougher. I've often wondered how that would screw up siblings' natural relationships with each other. It just changes things, even when there is no animosity.

And for every NBA player, there is like 1000 ballers who just didn't make it for whatever reason.

Being a hero in professional sports is as paradoxical as it gets. On one hand, we love those we perceive to play for us, and on the other, we despise them in the fog of deep jealousy.

Lopez looked like a top-3 Center in the NBA a couple years ago but he has since completely forgot how to rebound. He's absolutely NOT worth what they're paying him.

...and Omer Asik is probably worth half of that contract from the Rockets. The Houston GM needs to be drug tested.

I'd be happy if Joe resigned one of his guys AT market value for a change.

What was his market value? I would have guessed that it was about $10M/year right now, mainly due to his age.

    He averaged 15.4 pts/ 9 rebs/ 2.3 asts/ 0.7 stls/ and 1.5 blcks with shooting under .500.

    Monroe average 15.4/ 9.7 rebs/ 2.3 asts/ 1.3 stls/ and 0.7 blcks with shooting at .521.

Pretty cool that we are only paying our Duncan $4M.

I wouldn't have expected those two guys' stats to be so close. I looked at MPG and the variance isn't that severe (GM - 32, TD - 28).
Hopefully Greg picks up his game to the point that we can start comparing him to Tim Duncan's year over year stats.
In Duncan's 3rd year in the NBA, he put up 23 pts/12 reb/3 asts/1 stls and 2.5 blks while shooting 50%..

That Duncan was worth the max, especially considering his D and intangibles. But they only paid him $3.9M that year since he was still on his rookie contract.

The top rookie picks get ripped off big time... except for Darko.

This happens in nearly every union situation. The oldest workers suppress new workers from coming in, and protect against wage competition.

Grizzlies dump players and picks to Cleveland to get under the lux tax.
Memphis Grizzlies make a salary-cut trade, but it's not Rudy Gay - Yahoo! Sports

There's conflicting reports about the details, but according to this article, the deal also includes Memphis' 1st round pick in 2015.
So, essentially Cleveland got Speights and a first round pick in 2 years for next to nothing. This is the kind of deal Joe should've pulled. Granted we didn't have the cap room to pull this specific one off.

    I like Speights' game.
This seems like the kind of deal that Joe is always on the wrong side of.

Why would the Pistons need Marresse Speights' when they already have Jason Maxiel?

The fact that Cleveland was able to fleece Memphis should not be lost on Joe. He's talked about maintaining cap flexibility, and needs to keep in mind that Denver, Brooklyn, and Golden State are just a few teams that are going to be over the luxury threshold next year and may be looking to unload contracts and package picks with them (similar to how Detroit had to get rid of Gordon). I would have traded Middleton in a heartbeat for Speights, Ellington, Selby, and a 1st (sorry, Lee).
