We've all read quotes from Flip Saunders and have been left with that confused, frustrated, and ultimately lonely feeling. Sometimes it is difficult to determine when he is being a genius or when he merely misunderstood the question. Sometimes he sends secret coded signals to BF and other times he is making a thinly disguised cry for help.

I just thought that a good thread topic would be to keep track of his quotes and put them on the cutting board for our expert analysts here to dissect.*

For example, the following quote could be interpreted on face value or it could mean much more.

    My straight talk express translation:
    * This is meant to be classified as a "90% humorous" thread and should not be considered another mean spirited attack on our favorite coach. However, there has to be an element in truth involved to truly make it funny.

I also notice that Flip talks in circles, whether in print or in live interviews.

Sometimes I go away shaking my head and asking myself "what was that all about".

At first, it annoyed me. But now that we are winning in a very convincing manner, I'm starting to find them entertaining.

Translation: "Once the playoffs begin, I will have absolutely NO recollection of the progress that our young reserves made during the regular season. I plan on going to a seven-man rotation with Hunter and Dale Davis coming off of the bench."

Translation: "We're a veteran team. I'm not playing Amir in the playoffs and this game tonight in Utah clearly illustrates that! ...Hey, if that's Joe on the phone, tell him I get really bad cel reception here in the Energy Solutions Arena locker room and I'll try and call him back later."

"I have no idea what our young players are capable of, so I will assume the worst. Even so, when they surpise me with good play, I will sometimes leave them in the game and take credit for it afterwards."

"We are best when we primarily play our core guys. The reason I play the bench during the regular season is to develop them for next year and beyond. When the playoffs arrive, training time is over and it will be back to the core."

When the momentum is going against us, I think that playing the starters is the way to go. Utah took the momentum, and playing Amir at that point would have been utterly foolish. My job is to win and that is what I was trying to do. I wish I would have played Amir when we were up 18 so that this would not be an issue.

Translation: "Uhhh, well, We don't have anyone else except Lindsey. Uhhh, I guess we could activate Abdenour. He knows the plays better than the new guy, Dixon. There's just gotta be a way to get out of starting a rookie..."

I forgot Amir was on the team.

By the time I remembered he was on the team, we were down big, and I didn't want Amir to come in and play well, which would have made me look like an idiot for having not played him earlier.

How long is Flip going to get away with this total bullshoot excuse, that he forgets to play rotation players.

Does he think we are stupid, or is he too stupid to be the coach?
