If Dre needs a top quality PG to be effective, then he's not worth the max contract he is getting paid.

I think a top quality PG elevates Dre from pretty good to All-Star.

Then you pay that PG the top dollar.

Howard elevated Jameer Nelson from garbage to all-star.

I would say besides a point guard, Andre needs more a quality power forward to play along with him in front court. At times he looks lonely there....

The only thing that is habitually lonely is between his ears.

Dre can be a world champion if you can surround him with 4 All-Stars.

    Shades of Michael Curry.

His decision making was atrocious. For whatever offensive set was established, performed and needed adabtability... it all when out-the-door.
This guy has no concept of balance be it symmetrical, asymmetrical and all the nuances that a painter must have in the distributions of the balancing of weights.
All great PG balance certain weights. Never by instruction, but by feel and sensitivities from certain patterns that they feel comfortable in manipulating.
And, of course, manipulation means having the strength of creative opportunities that are able to be transferred to their surroundings.
Nash was born a painter, while Billups, thought himself into becoming one. Both resulted into everyone's appreciation of a certain artistry.
So now what? Well, you look around for some of these certain qualities. Specious, though they may be.
Unexpectedly (and I mean that) you hit certain visual markers of long past (always bluish in color) bones that mark your template of discovery in the right territory.
There are specializations in everything from macro to micro, but very little art of how combinations might work themselves out where the simple pathways usually win.
So, I will submit to you, a certain possible palette from a recent discovery:
    Luke Kennard.

Tayshaun Prince was a world champion in 2004 when he was surrounded by 4 All-Stars.

    What happened to Nate Wolters?

Please don't compare Dre to Tay. Tay could play defense and hit his FTs.

Dre is the only player on team who has been an all star. That is really a long way from a scenario where a marginal player is elevated by great talent around him.

Tay could have been an All-Star if he shot more.

Too many Taysolation plays to be an All-Star.

Tay was a beast in '03. We went away from him on offense in '04.

Like Mark Hamill being typecast as Luke Skywalker, Tay became typecast as a "glue guy" and not the primary scorer he was destined to be coming out of Kentucky.

Prince averaged a beastly 9.4 points in '03 and improved his scoring as they went away from him (9.9 points) in '04.

Curry was plus 33 in 35 minutes and Durant was plus 8 in 30 minutes. They both started. That is weird.

That is a little weird. Durant went to the bench early with 2 fouls while Curry played the entire 1st Q. The Warriors were +13 in that time he missed right there. Again in the 3rd Curry played the entire quarter while Durant came out with 2 mins left and they went on a 7-0 run to close the quarter.

    Klay was only +5.

What a stacked team. Pretty ridiculous. If Lebron beats them this year when they are fully healthy, I will acknowledge his greatness.
