The Losing Stops Now!!!!!
This season has become a sick joke for my team. It began shortly after the draft with injuries and a crazy strength of schedule. This week, it continued.
Snippets from the recap:
Cowardly Lions would not have lost to any other team in the league besides Tater's Eagles this week.
Cowardly Lions would be 3-1 if they played the same schedule as Tater's Eagles.
This matchup featured the two highest-scoring teams in the league this week.
Although Cowardly Lions lost, they did put up the third-highest score for a losing team in the league this season.
We WILL have our FIRST victory this week dammit!
tuff, TB has a strong team.
I had to dust off Dett, I think i picked up a 30 pt scorer, just to whip his fanny.
I know what that's like Mossy and it sucks. Football is the highest luck dependent fantasy sport. You obviously need a good team, but luck plays a huge part. I once had the 3rd most points on the season, but ranked 9th on record and missed out on the playoffs.
I have considered coming up with a rule in the past where the top 4 teams automatically qualify for the playoffs based on record, but the next 2 teams qualify based on highest points for the season. This allows for scenarios where very good but very unlucky teams miss the playoffs.
My favorite fantasy sport is actually fantasy baseball.
This is completely offtopic.
Mikhail and I have been going back and forth all afternoon...this is a tight one
I need to apologize to TB. My team came up completely lame.
A look at the league standings after 6 weeks shows a few oddities:
* Six of the eight teams have a record of 3-3.
* One team (Drath) is 6-0. His team actually looks tough to beat. Untimely injuries may be our best hope.
* One team (Mossberg) is 0-6. His team has had some bad luck with matchups. He actually has more total points than one of the 3-3 teams. Perhaps he used up all of his lifetime of fantasy luck last year.
You might be right. The fantasy gods must think that I won too many titles last year and have now conspired to derail that train by using a combination of injuries and having opponents play their best games of the season against me.
My QBs have also been especially terrible this year (Eli and RGIII).
You can't blame the fantasy gods for drafting crappy quarterbacks....
Well, I made a great living off of RGIII last year, so I rolled the dice hoping he would regain some of that form, but I ended up crapping out. He is not the same guy after the surgery.
As for Eli, I knew what I could be getting into, but hoped for the best and instead got the worst.
With 3 WR, 2 RB, and 2 flex, you can still win in this league with average quarterbacks. I'm not counting your team out quite yet.
Interesting that no one has fewer points against than Tater, by a large margin (120+)
Likewise, no one has more points against than Mossberg, by a large margin (170+)
I'd like to hear the rationale behind the Peyton & Ridley for Kaepernick, Marshall & Martin trade
I can't speak for the other trader, but these were my thoughts:
Martin is a stud that gained nearly 2000 all-purpose yards last year. He was the #2 overall pick. I am banking on him being the stud he was last year.
Next to Megatron (when healthy), Marshall is the biggest stud WR out there. With 3 WR slots and 2 flex spots in a PPR league, adding Marshall is huge for me (especially with Roddy White being lame so far).
I like Russell Wilson and Sam Bradford, my current #2 and #3 quarterbacks. To be honest, I will probably not use Kaepernick except for bye weeks and very favorable matchups.
Manning's numbers have been ludicrous (22 TDs in 6 games). My hope is he has peaked and I'm trading him at his highest value.
I just picked up Ridley on a whim so throwing him into the trade was easy.
My team is weak and lacks depth. I am picking up 3 guys that I didn't have last week and losing 1 guy I didn't have last week.
Junior offered this trade to me. He spends way too much time on trade offers, in my opinion. I turn down about 90% of his offers. Perhaps this could help both teams, but in the end, I am hoping to be the swindler not the swindlee.
Jr. just likes everybodies best player. Can't blame him for trying. Pops is his main sucker.
The farce of having to explain a trade for a third party guy to avoid getting it vetoed is what makes this league exciting!
Actually, I just made all of this explanation stuff up last night. I hit the "Accept Trade" button without even really looking at the players. I was getting sick of his trade offers, so I figured if I just accepted one, he would leave me alone.
