That's not very nice of you. Don't you think he should at least have a chance of winning one week?
Quick answer (depending on Commish, most likely it will be balanced 50% batters 50% pitchers). The default would be 10 settings. avg, home runs, RBI, walks, and runs. Pitchers were wins, strikeouts, whip (walks & hits per Inning pitched, ERA, and one I forgot)... but I like more action so I added two pitching (losses & Complete games) and two batting ( hits and stolen bases). Not sure if Lame adding these? Last year, we had 14 categories. 7 pitching. 7 batting. Anyhow, there were 23 roster positions (also varies by commissioner) I think they were 9 batting 1.C 1.1b 1.2b 1.3b 1.RF. 1.LF 1.CF 1. UTIL (So any batter you chose could play this during any day in addition to the 3 listed above). 1.SS Some guys you could use in different spots. The utility could be any batter you chose. (e.g. Let's say Pujols could be used as either an outfielder or first baseman on any given day). There were 9 pitching Approx. 4.Starters 3. relievers 2. Utility (So you could use either starters or relievers here) Also your roster includes 5 bench spots and one injured reserved. It's easy. best to read the Yahoo rules but I gave you the basics.
So are we good now?
Nah, I don't think so. 1. Laim 2.Jr 3.Darth 4. Jammer 5. Rascoe Thee and kidstealth...maybe. I'm really surprised at the lack of interest, although, admittedly, a couple weeks ago I was sure I wasn't going to play this season, either.
If we had weekly lineup changes instead of daily, might that help draw more interest?
so some weeks you might have only 2 pitchers starting which could lessen your points ? Nems must stay with the school. He's no shark.
Right. You usually hope your starting pitchers go twice that week. Strategies for weekly vs. daily leagues can significantly differ so I can tell you more once that is decided. The nemo in the cartoon was brave and wanted to go out and explore new things. He wouldn't have been scared to try fantasy baseball. Our nemo is more like his dad, Marlin. SCARED to leave the nest! But don't be too hard on nemo. He had a pretty bad experience in fantasy football last year. If I were him, I would hide too. . Besides, if we nag him too much, he'll get upset and join a coalition fantasy baseball team.
I think our Nems is a flounder.
Yes, but sportsline does scoring, not categories, which I find far more enjoyable.
OK. Good luck to you. We've got six. That's enough but two more would be much better. Now...where the hell is the REAL Commissioner? Not to mention any names. 1. BILL LAIMBEER 2.Jr 3.Darth 4. Jammer 5. Rascoe 6. Thee TFD
where's nemo ?
Still in The Heights, Montana.........
1. Bill Laimbeer 2.Jr 3.Darth 4. Jammer 5. Rascoe 6. Thee TFD[/quote] Only six? I guess it's quality over quantity for me. These are possibly my five (5) best rivalries in fantasy sports. Nobody I'd rather pummel than these guys and nobody I HATE losing to more than these guys. Playing each one four or five times per season...now that's going to be fun!!! That being said, we would really like two (2) more people to join.
I have created a league. The lineup changes are set as WEEKLY so little maintenance is required to be a GM. Simply set your lineup every Sunday night and you are as good or better than Darth. We have a couple of open spots. If you want to join, simply send me a PM. The draft is currently set for Sunday, March 18 at 6:30pm EDT. The current stats are: Hitting (6): R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, OBP Pitching (6): W, S, K, H, ERA, WHIP Positions (25): C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, OF, OF, OF, UTIL, UTIL, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, P, 5 Bench spots, DL If you are joining and would like to suggest changes with league settings, discuss here.
looks like all your players will be active all the time.
No. A few remain idle each week. 5 on the bench and one Injured Reserved. Positions (25): C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, OF, OF, OF, UTIL, UTIL, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, P, 5 Bench spots, DL
Also, remember...People who are new to weekly lineups often get confused on this and learn the hard way... You've got to have your lineup set by Sunday at the latest for the fpollowing week beginning on Monday. You CANNOT switch guys out during the week. Let's say your 2nd baseman gets injured on Wednesday. You're screwed. You CANNOT replace him with a healthy guy until the following week. You CAN set your lineups weeks in advance but cannot change them during the week once Monday hits for that particular week.. Another thing. On Pitchers. You can use your four "P's" on all starting pitchers. That may make it more likely that you will win the "Wins" and "Strikeout" categories, but then you'll likely lose the relief categories like "Saves" and "Holds". You'll want to come up with strategies for batters too.
@ Bill: Nice job on the settings by the way. I think there will be almost 50 more free agents available than last year which will deepen the pool significantly. The categories should work well too. In pitching, you dumped Complete Games and Losses. Complete games were pretty random anyhow, and Losses aren't necessary in a weekly league where you can't load up extra pitchers on the weekend. Holds will allow us to make use of the set up men available. They were wasted in the pool previously.Although, admittedly, it will prove challenging for me at first because I have no clue who these guys are. In Hitting, you dumped hits and Base on balls. I liked those categories but adding On base Percentage should cover both of those. We need one more team to make it 8, guys. I'm really surprised we are struggling to reach that number, as usually we get 10 easily. Maybe people are burning out on and getting frustrated with fantasy sports, in general. I can relate. Bill is offering some kind of incentive to the next person who joins. An all expenses paid overnight trip to Calgary with Jammer. Your gender is not a concern. Jammer is quite flexible and will dress up in whatever manner pleases you most. His only request is that you remember to bring some handcuffs and that you keep pointing it out every time he misbehaves that evening.
I saw 9 teams. Rasc has extra IPs [used for spamming] let him make a dummy auto pick team. You could call it the "Flounders".
