Each category is worth 1 point, so a weekly matchup is worth 12 points (6 batting, 6 pitching).

Season REALLY starts today. A nationally televised game tonight featuring the Miami Marlins in their new park......against the St. Louis Cardinals........

I got 2 guys goin for the Cards.......... Freese and Berkman in the infield.

Fantasy baseball is so funny. It will drive you nuts.

I remember last year I was playing a person .

My pitcher was Clayton Kershaw. (Can't do much better than that, right?)

It went something like this...

So Kershaws team is up about 2 or 3 runs (I believe it was 4-1). Bottom of the 9th. Kershaw pitching. 2 outs. 2 strikes on the batter.

So Kershaw is one strike away from the Complete Game, a win, a great ERA, a great WHIP.

Now...the batter gets a hit. Then another guy does. Then another guy does and gets a 3 or 4 run homer . So Kershaw loses. So I get a worse ERA, WHIP, I get a Loss instead of the Win (we counted losses as a negative stat last year, lose my Complete Game when Kershaw is replaced for that last batter).

BUT...to add insult to injury...the batter hitting the homer ALSO owns the batter who hit the homer. So the guy gets to add up a Home run, 3 or 4 RBI's, At least one Run, Batting Average goes up. Hits go up (we counted those too last year)

So how many categories adversely affected me by Kershaw not getting that last strike??? Runs, RBI's, Hits, Home Run, Batting Average, Losses, Wins, Complete Game, ERA, WHIP...As far as I can remember TEN!!!

The match was close at the time. I still ended up kicking his butt by the end of the week, but I wasn't in a good mood when it happened.

These first two weeks will be a good test for my team.
I'd like to get off to a fast start and not have to play ketchup.
Taking 9 of 12 or more from Darth in week 2 would be nice..........

I've said this before, but I like this story (until the end).

My team was dominant last year. I won 18 or 19 matches out of 23 weeks, including the last 9 or so weeks in the regular season (mostly by large margins). I finished a couple dozen games above the 2nd place team.

In the playoffs, we got a bye. The following week I was dead by MONDAY night. Unbelievable. My team narrowed the gap but never quite caught up. The next week my team just flat out sucked and I lost again. No Gold. No Silver. No Bronze. No NOTHING!!

But, my point is that I've done the dominant act twice before the last time (although previously I was able to finish up and take gold). So IF you can kick my butt...hats off to you! It promises to be fun and I'm looking forward to it.

9 of the 10 teams look pretty good to me at this point. Time will tell.

I play Jammer this week. He always has good teams so our work will be cut out for us. I would insult him and his team but he is never here to see it so why waste my time?

Nah, you'll beat Laimbeer. But he will sneak into the playoffs by the skin of his...and these two will pay his family a visit the day before the playoffs begin...and then...
