Clueless coach would probably play the elephant at small forward. It's not rocket science. That elephant should never play small forward. That is, unless you have an agenda against winning.

Although I love the elephant's size and strength, I'm concerned about it's lateral quickness.

As long as the elephant is put on the floor with the right combinations of players, it's a non-issue. Let me take a stab at a rotation:

Start: Jennings, Pope, Mitchell, the elephant, Drummond

2nd unit: Stuckey, Billups, a zebra, Smith, Monroe

At all times on the floor, you have a point guard, some outside shooting, a zoo animal, and a shot blocker. Gee, that wasn't so hard.

I think this is a very good start. I'm concerned that the second unit doesn't have a suitably unknown fringe player. I guess you could slot the Zebra in there, but I think that's really playing it out of position.

    How about a second unit:

Pope, Gigi, Zebra, Samb, and Slava.

This lineup gives us plenty of height with a 6'5 PG and a 6'8 SG. I think it would be better to have the 6'11" Austin Daye at shooting guard, but Joe gave him away for nothing. This unit also gives us a shotblocker and zoo animal at the forward positions, and a guy who just scored 22 and 18 in Euroleague summer scrimmage semifinals.

I think Arnie will be able to work wonders on the elephant's lateral quickness.

For the 2nd unit...Which one is the zoo animal?

EXACTLY! It's a match-up nightmare for the opposing teams.

All I know is that Curry was always the elephant in the room, and hey, yes, lots of people claim that the zebras are on one team or another.

I was able to spend some time this evening watching tape. The Elephant plays above the rim, and shows some range on it's outside shot. However, it's lateral quickness is questionable. Any coach would be sure to always pair the elephant with a good outside shooter.

Some see lack of quickness I see a whole lot of talent. Keep him on the floor. No room on the bench anyway.

I wonder if the Player's Union would file a grievance if zoo animals started replacing some of the humans.

Roundball 1 would have to change their in-flight menu.

Elephant surely has to come off the bench. We already have Moose in the starting lineup and having two players with a 5" vertical on the floor together would be problematic. I also like the idea of playing Elephant with BoT because we all know Elephant's are pretty messy.

I think we need to move this discussion to the Rotations thread.

I'm sure the elephant would be fine with the in-flight peanuts. Space on the plane may be an issue, though. I'm sure his trunk will be bigger than Tay's.

"traps" are various schemes at modern bball. Elephants speciality is "slippery dung traps" but locations are totally unpredictable. And thats the difference between good and bad coaches - under good coaches elephant create their traps at pointed locations.

If we trade for this guy, considering his ability to drive and score, he would make a killer pick & roll threat with the elephant.
