Anyone who would make an obscene gesture toward a fan would probably mess up coach's desk. Dodged a bullet there.

Noticed today that Afflalo has the most points of any Nugget this year. Pretty good for a guy drafted 27th.

There are only a hand full of guys drafted later who lead their teams in scoring this year:
    - Spurs: Parker. Drafted 28th
    - Cavs: Varejao. Drafted 30th
    - Wolves: Pekovic. Drafted 31st.
    - Bucks: Ellis. Drafted 40th
    - Suns: Dragic. Drafted 45th

Ellis is the only American on that list (foreign players are more likely to go later in the draft due to lack of information).

Nice work in the draft Joe! If only you could have forced your weak coaches to play him more.

It was interesting looking up the draft position of the most productive scoring players for each team. Here is a summary of the results.

    Pck range
    # 1-3: 8 (Lebron, Griffin, Durant, Aldridge, Melo, Deron, Mayo, Harden)
    # 4-6: 2 (Cousins, Gallinari)
    # 7-9: 5 (Deng, Monroe, Curry, Gay, DeRozen)
    #10-12: 1 (Pierce)
    #13-15: 2 (Kobe, Jefferson)
    #16-18: 3 (J. Smith, Holiday, West)
    #19-21: 1 (Anderson)
    #22-24: 0
    #25-27: 2 (Afflalo, Crawford)
    #28-30: 2 (Parker, Varejao)
    #31-33: 1 (Pekovic)
    #34-36: 0
    #37-39: 0
    #40-42: 1 (Ellis)
    #43-45: 1 (Dragic)

This shows that there is a decent chance at getting major talent in the #7 to #18 range in the draft each year. #1-3 are loaded however.

Also, it looks like if you are drafting late, you might want to pick foreign players and hope that they aren't fully researched by the competition.

Agree. Grantland seems to be allowing longer format stuff that can't be found too many other places.

This guy (JJ Abrams) in particular has done some good ones. He did (at least I think it was him) some on the Malice at the Palace and the Leonard - Hagler fight that I liked a lot also.

Dang it, Jonathan Abrams. JJ is a director or something like that.
