I like the idea of waiting until next year. Since it looks like we will have to pay anyway we may as well wait and see if he can improve his shooting a bit before making that decision.

Yeah, you never know. He might play his value down.

It's not like we don't have plenty of wing players who can use minutes.

Yeah, don't outbid yourself. Just wait to see what the market value is. It's all up to KCP now.

    Rough start for KCP.
You are not getting 20 per year if you perform like that, son! (Or maybe, in today's NBA you will, who knows?)

NBA Superstar Index: Top 5 Players at Every Position

    My favourite Piston these days.

Interesting that people around here still write him off (myself included at the start of the season) but others in the league rank him 4th overall for SGs.

Agreed. He's also my favorite Piston. IMO, he's the first Piston since the GTW squad that has the drive and will to win. Sure, he has bad nights sometimes, but he's steadily improving and he's always competing - something that is not possible to say for others on the squad.

Pope and Smith are the only two Pistons who play at full speed all game long.

Is this why nearly why every opposing PG and his partner score on us at will? If only we could hold them under 30 per game.
Not tough enough at the SG for me, since the only person on the Pistons who can create their own shot is Harris.
If we can get a two guard that can do this, then we can move upward in the standings. It will take a lot of pressure off the 5, 4 and 3 positions.
RJ hesitates too much out front, picks up his dribble and then moves laterally and passes to a stagnant wing.
No back doors or hard cuts from this team. The only way out of SVG's stagnant system comes from these latter points.
Start Bullock at the two and see if he can move the ball inward, because Pope can not,

This defines the Pistons woes in a nutshell. SVG is an above average defender against shooting guards, but many point guards leave him in the dust. We REALLY need a player that can defend point guards.

I love Bullock but he's made of crystal. Not a long term solution at the 2 until he can stay healthy for one full season off the bench.

I think the positive talk in this thread gave KCP the magic he needed to ignite his game....career-high 38 points...not bad...

Big problem with Bullock: SVG wants a perimeter shooter.
OK, Bullock is capable, but not his energetic self. He can shoot the long, but he loves the "down-under" interaction.
    The same with SJ.
SVG's whole life is to non-tackle the obvious.

No matter who guards the PG, they are going to get picked. That was obvious watching IT ditch KCP. Nothing he could do on his own. It's a scheme thing.

We do killed on the ball screen. We get killed off dribble penetration without screens, as well. I think our defensive rotation on ball screens has improved over that last month or so, but it's still not good.

There is a weakest link vulnerability with all defenses, which is why it's so rare to have a special one. On offense, only one ball. Stiffs can set screens, get in rebound position, etc.

But on D, the other team will specidically attack the weakness over and over.

Pope/ stanley/ morris seem like a fairly interchangeable trio to form our defensive core. Dre should be a great defensive center, but he's not doing it.

As much as I'd hate to see him go, having a Gobert type would improve our defense immensely. Not sure if there'd be any offensive drop off either. We could probably get away with a poor defensive PG on that case.

If we keep Dre, we might need a great defensive PF or a great defensive PG to eliminate the weak links.

I'm also not convinced that Boban wouldn't make a solid rim protector with a creative scheme from the coach. He is slow, but he still freaks penetrating players out. You can see shots being altered. And we don't have to worry about him falling for pump fakes.

Our lizard brains still kick in when we don't want them to.
