Decent 3 pt shooter? He's 40% for his career!
San Antonio signed Belinelli to a 2yr/$5.6M deal, Neal must be asking for at least 3 years and $3M. But I think he's clearly worth 4 years/$12M. I also think he's the perfect 3rd guard to bring off the bench.

BoT made more 3-pointers than Neal last year.

At least he's becoming a better free throw shooter.

Try him out for two years. The pistons will leave this years lottery pick to Charlotte and perhaps be placed in the middle-middle land for at least the next 2 years.
Understand that JD will lay everything out to gain a playoff spot and if he does, will continue tweaking those spots for higher levels. I accept this. Do you? Another question, will Gores?
Let us get the delusions out of the way and let JD increase his sharing potential (out of the hidden corner) and expose him. It is the only way, for whatever reason, he will rise to the occasion. He likes that position. Play to his strength.

With the Pistons current roster, I am not convinced they land out of the top 8 in lottery world. I still think they need to add 2 more parts to make the playoffs.

Re-read what I said about JD. He will add enough to get the team in the middle-middle, without Gay. I'm just saying that in two years, the water level will be higher with Gay and you turn the corner from the middle.

I agree with you. I'm okay with giving Rudy Gay a chance, ESPECIALLY if Toronto is dumb enough to take Stuckey and BoT off our hands. I'd even throw in Korie Lucious to sweeten the pot.

Toronto doesn't give up Gay for just flotsam.

You had better believe that. They also don't need guards, especially non shooters. CV would interest them, maybe English. The rest we are going to have to give talent for

Looking at Pope in summer league has me a little concerned. I'm thinking we need some, Bust Insurance. How about Nick Young? I know it's not popular but the kid can shoot and score, he's a career 37% 3pt shooter......thoughts?

No way, but I do like his size (6-7). Pope is just an inch smaller and is far superior. Give Pope time. He looked exceptional today and was the only one. Whole club got embarrassed by Reggie.

For discussion purposes, heres a situational view of 2013/14 Pistons as of today:

Guys in RED = Joe is likely trying to trade. Guys in BLUE = not guranteed for 2014 yet (I'm not counting Tony Mitchell as he WILL be there.)
    1. Chauncey Billups
    2. Will Bynum
    3. Andre Drummond
    4. Kenny English
    5. Jonas Jerebko - love the guy but new additions of Pizza Guy & T-Mitch make him expendible.
    6. Brandon Knight
    7. Vyacheslav Kravtsov
    8. Khris Middleton
    9. Greg Monroe
    10. Peyton Siva
    11. Kyle Singler
    12. Rodney Stuckey - trade him for anything of equal value that makes sense. Is it too late to buy him out for $4 mil?
    13. Josh Smith
    14. Gigi Datome
    15. Charlie Villanueva - If nobody wants his expiring deal, take $8.5 million from your MARKETING/PR budget and use the amnesty clause to win back some fans!
    16. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
    17. Tony Mitchell

Well, we still have problems with the 1,2,3 positions. All these recent moves are bench related. Still no real point guard. No shooting guard and no number 3. Datome will have a very hard time with the intensity level of the NBA and is not a starter. Henderson or Ellis? The latter can save face and sign 4 years at 9M. Cheeks would know how to use him. If we keep Monroe, then Josh slides between 3-4 with Singler as a backup. Mitchell better be ready for some playing time.

I'm still surprised at how many people feel a 2nd year player like Knight can't learn anything or improve. We got very lucky with Drummond and I don't think anyone is going to make it easy for us to acquire our next Isiah or Chauncey (unless Ainge has a miraculous change of heart). Right now, I'm willing to give another PG great (Cheeks) a season or two to teach BK how to do what we need from that position. Remember, it took Chauncey 5/6 yrs to finally get it.

I'm not sure we can say the MVP of the Italian league isn't an NBA starter on a fairly bad team.

Why not? Italian league isn't all that to be honest.

Because his competition is a rookie, Singler and Stuckey.
