This will be the year to prove to Moose that he should stay here.

I wouldn't swallow paying $15m a year for him if someone put that forward.

For me, I would have total concentration toward swallowing, since I would be choking at the same time.

The premise for qualifying offers is that, essentially it has to be I believe 125% of their previous year's salary. So, if you have a player who is a RFA and made $10M in the previous year, you have 4 options:

    - offer him $12.5M to play for you another year after which he'll become an unrestricted FA
    - sign him to a contract extension to an amount of your choosing
    - if another team offers a contract, you can match that amount and keep the player, or
    - let him sign with the other team.

The dynamics are slightly different for players on rookie contracts. Teams who have top notch players like to lock them up before they ever hit the FA market, and this works great if the player is happy where he is (see: Blake Griffin, Kevin Durant etc.) I think this is what we should be doing with Moose and Drummond.

What I'm not 100% clear is, if you don't like your rookie and nobody signs him to an offer sheet either, do you have to make him a qualifying offer or can you just waive him?

I believe you can skip the qualifying offer and the player will become an unrestricted free agent.

I kind of like this years draft, I think we will get a very good player.
It seems to me if there are 8 names I like we can get a good one.

    1 Nerlens Noel
    2 Ben McLemore

There is no chance they will be there at 8

    3 Trey Burke
    4 Otto Porter
    5 Alex Len

If any one of these three falls to 8 you have to take them

    6 Cody Zeller (my pick)
    7 Micheal Carter-Williams

I think one of these two will be there and I would be very happy with either one

    8 CJ McCollum

If this is the last choice he is a player I really like and may turn out to be great. I would be happy.

This list does not include Bennett or Mohammed because I am not impressed with either one, but there is a good chance one or both will be taken and push someone down the list.

This also does not include Victor Oladipo and it is possible he belongs in the 3-4-5 group as too good to pass up but I have him at 9 and if we got him I would be OK with it.

In short, there is going to be someone available I really like so if Joe takes someone else I will be very not happy.

Clippers will most likely not have the money to extend Eric Bledsoe, and will therefor look for a trade. You think they would bite for the 8th pick? - Orlando is reported to be offering Afflalo for Bledsoe and C. Butler.

Bledsoe is basicly a PG version of Oladipo.

How about we trade for Bledsoe and trade up for Oladipo? Is that too much to ask?

What do we give the Clippers? Bledsoe is a good player. Knight + filler probably won't cut it. I think we would be hard pressed to make two trades which both move us forward, we just don't have the pieces. We need to cut ties with Stuckey and Villenueva ASAP. No one is going to take either of those without a 1st rounder or a talented young player attached.

So therefore we have to choose between another year of BOT and Hadron with a good new face from a trade. Or, no good new faces but less turd and collision.

The key to next season isn't mysterious #8 but how successful the team is at removing Stuckey and CV and what the new coach does. If this is a 'must turn it around' year, we're going to rely heavy on mid-tier vets. the track record of our current group is dismal.

It looks like the cap is going to be 58.8 million next year. Where does that leave the Pistons? Karen Davidson says the Pistons are already spending a lot on their roster.

Iguodala opted out of his final year today, looking for a long-term deal. This article mentions the Pistons as a possible suitor:

Iguodala would definitely make us competitive, and the playoffs wouldn't be unrealistic. I would be okey with signing him for ~$10.0 M/year.

However, IF we sign him, we better pair him with someone like Korver, so our spacing wouldn't be so bad. I know Iggy isn't a horrible shooter, but he ain't great either.

Brandon Knight and Middleton space the floor.
