I don't see why Boston would trade their hero for three scrubs. We need to add our 59th pick to make this work.

There's talk all over the Internets that Ainge might dump Pierce's contract and hit the reset this summer. Pierce is due $16M next year.

Paul Pierce rentals are not on special this year. Especially not for Stuckey.

    Start him then.

The more I think about it the key is to trade this years pick. I just don;t see "THAT" guy in this draft. I love Trey Burke, but I'd trade him in a second if I could pluck Granger from Indy or Alf from Orlando. Same can be said for Oladipo, McClemore and Porter.
A deal where we could send Rodney and our lottery pick to Indy for Danny Granger would have me doing back flips on draft night. Why would Indy do it? Because that deal gets them a non guaranteed expiring contract and saves them $6M in cap space and they need to re-up West this summer. Next summer they have to re-up George and Stephenson. That deal would still leave us with $19.5M to spend (before we amnesty CV)

Next cut CV, now we have $28M to spend.

    Re-up Calderon and Bynum $12M

    Sign Andre Igoudala, $13M

    PG: Calderon / Bynum
SG: Igoudala / Knight / English
SF: Granger / Singler / Middleton
    PF: Monroe / Jonas
    C: Drummond / TRG
Plus 2 2nd rd draft picks AND we're still $2M under the cap.

As long as we can get rid of CV or stuckey or both this offseason I'd be doing back flips!!

Once again, Joe feeling the sting of the Matteen Cleaves bust, may not be feeling local talent.

I like this approach. Calderon and Granger are both good shooters. Iggy can bomb it from outside but isn't a massive threat. Gives us some spacing. But this roster is short on depth. Particularly TRG and Jonas being our backup bigs. We need a better back up than that.

I don't anticipate any notable free agent signings. Nor do I hope for any this offseason.

Just read through this thread for the first time in a while.. Thoughts:

    C: A. Drummond, ???, S. Kravtsov
    PF: G. Monroe, J. Jerebko
    SF: ???, K. Middleton
    SG: ???, K. Singler
    PG: *J. Calderon, B. Knight

    C. Villanueva?/R. Stuckey

I put a lot of stock into what Langolis has to say over at detroitpistons.com. He seems to think that we want to bring Calderon back and add shooters who aren't horrible defenders at the 2 and 3 positions to stretch out the court. He also seems to think that Joe-D's hoping to make a trade for one (involving an expiring contract, Charlie, Rodney) before going to the FA market.

Joe-D's been "attempting" to make trades like this for almost a decade now it seems, and to no avail, so I'm not going to get my hopes up. Someone like Granger might be nice though.

O.J. Mayo is the one big FA Langolis seems to mention as a serious possibility.

Whatever big man we bring into replace Max, if it's not Max himself, will likely be a much smaller name than some I've been reading here..

I guess it might come down to the $$, but I think I'm going to be bummed out if they bring Calderon back. I'd rather go with Knight although I'm afraid they'll waste another year if he can't do it.

Knight had about as bad a year as a player can have. He had to have had one of the worst "highlight reel" seasons ever with the Kyrie Irving and De'Andre Jordan stuff, he got hurt a few times ,the team traded for another PG and moved him to the 2. He came back every time. That has to be worth something. I thought he improved by the end of the year.

Maybe we're not interviewing laimbeer so that other teams don't know we're interested in him?

Joe D is like a chess grandmaster. He is thinking 3 to 4 moves ahead of his opponents.

I like Calderon. He's sort of like a poor-man's Tony Parker, IMO. I think he's got another 3 or so solid seasons in him. I don't think his D is that bad. I like the leadership intangibles he brings to the team.

I disagree. I don't think he is nearly the threat to score that Parker is.

Calderon is more like a poor man's Steve Nash (not the Steve Nash from this season) IMO.

I agree. The Pistons would be lucky to lock him into a 3-year deal, if reasonable.

I'm great with Calderon being our PG next year, but at the same time we have to have our PG in waiting for the next 5-6 years and beyond on the roster now.... we can't do another PG gets old and have nobody ready to take over. Be it Knight or another young player.
