Pistons should tank and tank hard « PistonPowered
We'll probably yank into the 8th spot and lose the pick due to a leap frog lottery winner. 12% chance I believe.
I have the same feeling Tas... it will happen, I know it! Every F-year is the same, some teams gets ahead of us..
One step closer (as I think we have lost to the Pelicans so far this season). Going to be difficult to get in that bottom 8. I think we need the Knicks to make a playoff push. 2/3/14 1. Bucks 11-47 0.190 2. 76ers 15-44 0.254 3. Magic 18-43 0.295 4. Celtics 20-40 0.333 5. Lakers 20-39 0.339 6. Kings 20-39 0.339 7. Knicks 21-38 0.356 8. Jazz 21-37 0.362 9. Pistons 23-36 0.390 10. Pelicans 23-36 0.390 11. Cavs 24-37 0.393 12. Nuggets 25-33 0.431 13. Hawks 26-31 0.456
The bucks are really playing hardball here.
We can count on the Kings, New York and Boston trying to move up.. But we can't count on the Pistons losing on April.
The Kings had a big lead over the Lakers on Friday night, before they decided to out tank LA and they "came back" to lose. The Knicks are staying within 15-20 of the Bulls today so they won't be accused of hard tanking like the Sixers..... According to the ABC/ESPN sport graphics, the Knicks need to eliminate their early daytime games are they will be 1-8 after todays' loss. The Pelicans didn't show up at all last night falling behind to the Clippers by as many as 30 before losing by 25... We need Trey Burke and Kyrie Irving to step up and get the Jazz and Cavs more wins... Still 23 games left for the Pistons....so either you win 5 of 6 to catch and surpass the Hawks...or lose 5 of 6 to catch and pass the Jazz, Knicks and Kings the other way
Tomorrow Pistons - Knicks It'll be nice to lose that one in the tanking race.
I'm surprising the Bucks are losing so frequently with Middleton on their roster.
Well that win was not useful. It is sad that I woke up this morning and checked the score hoping we had lost though. 4/3/14 5. Knicks 21-40 0.344 6. Kings 21-39 0.350 7. Lakers 21-39 0.350 8. Jazz 21-39 0.350 9. Pelicans 23-37 0.383 10. Cavs 24-37 0.393 11. Pistons 24-36 0.400 12. Nuggets 25-34 0.424 13. Hawks 26-32 0.448 Still, it looks like we are still too far adrift to overtake the Hawks. I think we are going to finish right where we are - 9th in the East and lose the pick. This is even sadder than my morning score check.
The Pistons are dead smack in the middle of the DISASTER ZONE....3 games out of making the playoffs, 3 games out of keeping their 1st round pick.
One measly win and we drop from 9th to 11th... Pretty soon, the Nuggets will get in on the Tanking act and we may be fighting with them too. At this point we need to cheer for any team that plays the Hawks who have now lost 3 in a row and 12 out of 13. A playoff appearance, whether getting swept or winning one game is better than finishing in the disaster zone. Plus is builds on momentum of attracting the reluctant free agent.
The only way to go is forward. Ditch the tank and play for your pride. Pistons should set a reasonable goal for themselves: don't lose any of the remaining home games, and then let the chips fall where they may. If they don't make the playoffs, fine. At least they can take pride in the fact that they protected their home floor.
After this summer Gores' sales pitch to FA's is going to be, Ditch your pride and play for the Pistons!.
It's easier to climb than fall, given the expected win percentage of the teams below and above us. Tanking will take a serious losing streak.
I agree. It might be time to get BoT into the lineup...
This comment is both sarcastic and based in truth at the same time. Not sure how that is possible
It comes with experience, my friend. Once you get 13,000 posts under your belt, you too will be able to pull off such a task.
Well that loss to the Bulls told us what we should be doing - we need to roll over in the 4th quarter of this season, just like we have been in games. Don't really follow draft prospects, but came across a report about a young fellow countryman last night, Dante Exum - while I know he is projected to be higher than we could fall, would still love to see him in a Pistons jersey.
